CODM Season 7 Terminated Gulag on GameLoop PC — how it works and tips to win
Season 7 brings the Gulag to CODM Battle Royale. Eliminated players fight a 1v1 for a chance to return — here is how the system works and how to win consistently on GameLoop PC.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 introduces the Gulag to Battle Royale — a respawn mechanic long associated with Call of Duty: Warzone that has now arrived on mobile. For PC players on GameLoop, the Gulag changes how Battle Royale feels from the very first elimination: death is no longer the end of a run unless you lose twice.
This guide covers how the Gulag works in CODM Season 7, what happens from the moment you are eliminated through to the result of your 1v1, and how to approach Gulag fights with the precision advantages that mouse-and-keyboard play provides.
What is the Gulag
The Gulag is a separate combat arena that activates when you are eliminated in Battle Royale for the first time in a match. Instead of spectating your squadmates or leaving the match, you are sent to a holding space alongside another eliminated player. When matched, the two of you fight a 1v1 in a small, enclosed arena.
Win the fight and you are immediately redeployed into the main Battle Royale match, dropping back in from above with a parachute. Lose and you are eliminated from the match. Your squad can continue without you, and in certain configurations they may be able to buy back eliminated teammates using in-match currency — but the Gulag is the only self-service path back.
The Gulag applies only to the first elimination. If you are eliminated a second time after being redeployed, you are out for the rest of the match regardless of squad activity.
How the Gulag system works in Season 7
When you are eliminated in Battle Royale and the Gulag is active, the sequence is:
- You are removed from the main match and placed in the Gulag holding area.
- You are matched with one other eliminated player.
- You are given a pre-assigned weapon loadout — you do not bring your main loadout.
- A countdown begins, then the 1v1 match starts.
- If neither player is eliminated within the time limit, an overtime bomb objective spawns in the center of the arena. The first player to reach and capture it wins.
- The winner is redeployed into the main match. The loser is out.
The Gulag arena in CODM Season 7 is a compact, symmetrical space designed to force engagement. It does not favor long-range play — the size ensures that both players encounter each other quickly.
The Gulag loadout
Gulag participants do not use their main Battle Royale inventory. A pre-set weapon configuration is assigned, which is consistent across both players. This removes any equipment advantage from the main match and makes the 1v1 a skill contest on an even playing field.
The specific weapon type assigned may vary by match or by CODM's in-game configuration. Based on what has been revealed before launch, expect close-to-medium range weapons — the arena dimensions make long-range weaponry impractical. Pistols, SMGs, and shotguns are the likely candidates for the assigned loadout.
You cannot modify the Gulag loadout. Focus instead on how you use it.
Advantages of GameLoop PC in the Gulag
The Gulag is a skill-isolated 1v1 in a small arena. This is where mouse-and-keyboard input is most decisive in CODM.
Tracking accuracy. The Gulag is fought at short to medium range. At these distances, mobile players are moving their thumbs across a touchscreen to track a moving target. On GameLoop PC, you are moving a mouse — a device designed for precise pointer movement. Tracking a strafing opponent in a corridor-sized arena is significantly more controllable on mouse.
Strafing control. On PC, strafing (moving laterally while shooting) uses dedicated keyboard keys that do not interfere with your aim. On mobile, any movement requires splitting attention on the touchscreen. PC strafing in the Gulag is more reliable and easier to time.
Reaction to the overtime bomb. If the fight reaches overtime and the bomb spawns in the center, the player who reaches it first and secures it wins. On PC, moving toward the objective while maintaining full awareness and aim control is simpler than on mobile. The keyboard-movement independence means you are not trading off aim to move.
Consistent input. Gulag fights are short — they may last only ten to twenty seconds. Every input matters. GameLoop PC eliminates touchscreen variance entirely. What you intend to do, your character does.
Strategies for winning Gulag fights on PC
Play the first second deliberately. Both players start on opposite sides of the arena. The initial rush to close distance or take a position is where many Gulag fights are decided. Identify cover, commit to a direction, and do not hesitate.
Use cover, but do not camp. The Gulag arena has obstacles. Using them to control engagement range is correct — fighting in the open at close range is a coin flip. However, staying behind cover the entire fight means the opponent can predict your movements and position themselves at angles that deny your cover.
Do not peek the same spot twice in a row. If you peek a corner and take damage, the opponent is now pre-aiming that exact position. Change the angle or wait for them to move before peeking again.
Prioritize eliminating your opponent over capturing the overtime bomb. If overtime activates and you are in a position where shooting the opponent is likely to succeed, take the shot before rushing for the objective. A player who is eliminated cannot capture the bomb. Do not abandon a winning gunfight to race for an objective.
If you are losing the gunfight, commit to the bomb. If your opponent has a significant health advantage and you are behind cover, consider breaking for the bomb instead. An opponent at full health who is tracking the bomb position may be pulled off aim by your movement toward it.
Settings to check before your first Gulag
The Gulag is a fast, close-range encounter. A few GameLoop settings affect how well you perform:
Sensitivity. Your standard Battle Royale sensitivity is tuned for medium-to-long-range engagement. In the Gulag, you are fighting at close range. If your sensitivity feels too slow for quick snaps in the Gulag, consider whether CODM's in-game ADS sensitivity or hipfire sensitivity for close-range is set appropriately. You do not need to change everything — just be aware that Gulag fights require fast target acquisition at short range.
FOV. A wider field of view helps at close range by keeping more of the arena visible. If you have adjusted FOV in GameLoop's settings, a slightly wider value may help in the Gulag specifically.
Frame rate. If you experience frame drops in Battle Royale, address them before playing Gulag-heavy sessions. A dropped frame at the start of a Gulag can mean losing the first-shot opportunity.
What we do not know yet before 5 August
Specific Gulag maps. The exact arena design for Season 7 has not been fully detailed before launch. The guide above describes confirmed mechanics; the specific obstacles and geometry will become clear once the season is live.
Weapon pool specifics. The assigned Gulag loadout weapon pool was not fully enumerated in pre-launch materials. Day-one play will confirm which weapons appear and how often they rotate.
Spectating. Whether squadmates can observe your Gulag fight and offer callouts through voice is not confirmed. CODM's Battle Royale spectate system will determine this.
This article will be updated once Season 7 is live and the Gulag has been played in full.
