CODM Season 8 on PC — Everything a New Player Needs to Set Up GameLoop

Season 8 just launched. If you've been thinking about trying Call of Duty Mobile on PC, now's the time — here's the complete setup for GameLoop, from install to first ranked match.

Season 8 launched on September 9, and if you're starting Call of Duty Mobile on PC for the first time, the timing is actually good. You're not playing catch-up with veterans — everyone is learning the new map rotation, the Roguelike mode, and the Quantum Platform POI at the same time. This guide gets you from zero to ranked-ready.

Step 1: Install GameLoop

GameLoop is Tencent's official Android emulator built specifically for mobile gaming. Download it from the official GameLoop site (gameloop.fun or via the Microsoft Store). Avoid third-party mirrors — they often bundle adware or outdated versions.

Minimum specs to run CODM on GameLoop:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD equivalent (dual-core, 2.4GHz+)
  • RAM: 4 GB (8 GB recommended for smooth 60fps)
  • GPU: Integrated Intel HD 4000 or better; dedicated GPU strongly recommended
  • Storage: 15 GB free space (GameLoop install + CODM download)
  • OS: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)

Virtualization must be enabled in your BIOS if you see a "VT-x not supported" error on first launch. The setting is usually under Advanced > CPU Configuration in your motherboard's BIOS menu. Exact steps vary by motherboard manufacturer — search for your specific model if you're unsure.

Once GameLoop installs, open it and find CODM in the Game Center, then click Download. The game itself is 3–5 GB and may take additional time for in-game resource packs on first launch.

Step 2: First-Time Graphics Settings

Open Settings → Graphics after CODM launches. GameLoop will attempt to detect your hardware and suggest a preset. You can accept the suggestion, but here's what the options actually mean:

SettingWhat it doesRecommendation
Frame RateCaps how many frames per second the game rendersSet as high as your PC can hold stably (60fps > smooth > max)
Graphics QualityTexture and visual fidelityMedium or High — Ultra is rarely worth the performance cost for most PCs
Shadow QualityReal-time shadowsLow or Off on weaker PCs; has significant FPS impact
Anti-AliasingEdge smoothingLow on mid-range PCs; disable on low-end
Depth of FieldBlur on background objectsOff — it's aesthetic, not gameplay, and blurs enemies

For low-end PCs (integrated graphics, 4 GB RAM): set everything to Minimum/Low, target Smooth frame rate. Stable 30fps is more playable than stuttering 60fps.

For mid-range PCs (dedicated GPU, 8 GB RAM): Medium graphics + High frame rate is the target. Most players find this the best balance.

Step 3: Keymapping — The Core PC Advantage

The reason PC players use GameLoop instead of playing on a phone is keymapping: you get keyboard + mouse instead of touchscreen controls. GameLoop's default keymaps for CODM are functional, but you'll want to tune them.

Key bindings most players change:

  • ADS (Aim Down Sights): right-click is the standard and usually works well as-is
  • Crouch/Slide: default is often Ctrl or C; some players prefer Left Shift for slide
  • Ping/mark: default varies; remap to something easy to hit with your left hand
  • Scorestreak activation: make sure these are on accessible keys — you'll miss kills fumbling for them

What to leave alone at first: fire is left-click by default and works well. Movement (WASD) is standard. Don't over-optimize on day one — play a few matches with defaults first, then change only what actually bothered you.

GameLoop's Smart Keymapping Tool generates game-aware keymaps based on what's on screen. For CODM, it handles the menu vs. in-game context switch automatically. Enable it under GameLoop Settings → Smart Tool.

Step 4: Sensitivity — Start Conservative

Sensitivity settings are the most personal part of PC CODM. There's no universal "best" — it depends on your mouse DPI, your arm vs. wrist aiming style, and personal preference. That said, new players typically start too high.

A starting point for GameLoop CODM:

  • Camera sensitivity (non-ADS): 90–120
  • ADS sensitivity (no scope): 80–110
  • Sniper/scope ADS: 30–60 (much lower — scope magnification amplifies movement)

These are not optimal values — they're a starting range. Play 10–20 matches, then identify whether you're over-tracking (turn it down) or can't turn fast enough (turn it up). Small changes, one at a time.

Mouse DPI: most GameLoop CODM players run 400–800 DPI in-system and compensate with in-game sensitivity. Very high DPI (3200+) tends to make fine aim control harder, not easier.

Step 5: Audio — Don't Overlook It

CODM has directional audio that gives you information about enemy position before you see them. On PC, this matters more because you can react faster than on mobile.

Go to Settings → Audio:

  • Master Volume: 70–80% (loud enough to hear footsteps without blowing out headphones during killstreaks)
  • Effects Volume: keep this high — footsteps, reloads, and ability sounds are all under Effects
  • Music Volume: turn it down or off; background music masks game audio

Use headphones if you have them. Even cheap headphones give meaningfully better directional audio than laptop speakers.

Step 6: S8 New Player Perks — Don't Ignore These

Season 8 has several events specifically designed to get new players up to speed:

Free Mythic Weapon Event (starts Sep 11):

  • Complete weekly missions to earn progress toward one of three Mythic-tier weapon skins
  • You pick which weapon you want (Static-HV SMG, ISO Hemlock AR, or BAL-27 Core of Reason)
  • You can change your selection before completing the final milestone — no penalty for switching early
  • Milestone tasks are visible in-game starting September 11

This is unusual — Mythic weapons normally cost 80–160+ CP (real money). The free event is a proper freebie, not a lure. Complete your weekly missions and you'll have a Mythic by mid-season.

Holiday Login Rewards (starts Oct 1):

  • Log in daily to accelerate your Free Mythic weapon progress
  • No extra missions required — just open the game

Battle Pass (Season Pass): not required to play, but the free track includes the ISO Hemlock AR weapon. You don't need to pay for the Battle Pass to earn it — just reach the relevant tier on the free track.

Step 7: First Matches — Where to Start

Don't rush into Ranked. Play 10–20 matches in Casual/Public Match first. You need to:

  1. Get comfortable with your keymapping and sensitivity
  2. Understand the S8 map pool (maps change each season)
  3. Earn the XP needed to unlock loadout slots and attachments

Game modes for newcomers:

  • Team Deathmatch: simple, fast, good for learning gunfights
  • Domination: introduces you to objective play without the pressure of Search and Destroy
  • Battle Royale (Isolated): slower pace, good for getting used to the map and keymapping in lower-pressure situations

The Roguelike multiplayer mode is new this season (up to 3-player co-op, wave-based monster fights). It's a good warm-up mode for PC because it's slower-paced than standard multiplayer and teaches you keymapping in a lower-stakes environment.

Before Your First Ranked Match

Once you've played ~20 casual matches and feel confident with the controls:

Check your ping. Open GameLoop Settings → Network. CODM server selection is automatic, but if you're getting >80ms ping in casual, try manually selecting a different server region in CODM's in-game settings.

Enable anti-aliasing (at least Low) before ranked. At Low/Medium graphics, jagged edges on distant targets can make enemy spotting harder in ranked mode where accuracy at range matters more.

Learn 2 weapons. Don't try to play optimally with 10 different guns in your first ranked session. Pick one AR and one SMG. This season's strong options include the Krig 6 (buffed) and the LAPA (buffed) — both are reliable, not gimmicky, and work well with mouse control on PC.
