CODM Season 8 "Against All Fate" keymapping guide for GameLoop PC
Season 8 removes Jet Boost wall-running from BR and adds a second charge to Flash Drones and Decoys. Here is what to adjust in your Smart Tool layout.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 — "Against All Fate" — launches on September 9, 2026. The season's design direction is "direct fighting over high mobility": nerfs to movement tools and buffs to equipment that creates and wins close-range fights. For GameLoop and TAC players, two changes require deliberate keymapping attention — Jet Boost wall-run removal and dual-charge tactical equipment. Everything else transfers from Season 7 without adjustment.
Confirm the baseline after updating
Before any season-specific adjustments, open Smart Tool and verify your core bindings survived the patch. Major CODM updates occasionally reset individual assignments.
Bindings to confirm immediately after Season 8 updates:
- Fire — left-click
- ADS — right-click (Hold or Toggle — check your preference held)
- Jump —
Space - Tactical equipment — your grenade/flash throw key
- Operator Skill — accessible without lifting your movement hand
- Jet Boost — confirm the key still registers (the wall-run mechanic is removed, but the boost input itself remains valid)
Open a Practice vs AI lobby and press each binding before entering a live match. A missing binding surfaces immediately in practice and never at the worst moment.
Jet Boost wall-run removed — what to do with that key
Season 8 removes wall-running from the Jet Boost in Battle Royale. The Jet Boost still functions as a horizontal thrust that extends jumps and allows fast elevation changes — it is not gone, it simply no longer chains into a wall-run when you jump toward a vertical surface.
If you had a dedicated Jet Boost sub-key or double-tap modifier specifically for wall-run initiation, that assignment no longer does anything useful. Three options:
Option 1 — Leave the bind, use it for boost only. The simplest choice. Your Jet Boost key still triggers the horizontal thrust. If you never consciously set a wall-run-specific input, nothing changes.
Option 2 — Reassign it to tactical equipment. With Flash Drones and Decoys now giving two charges by default (see below), tactical equipment sees more use this season. If your flash/grenade key is currently awkward to reach, move it to the freed slot.
Option 3 — Assign it to a secondary melee or crouch toggle. Season 8 rewards holding ground over repositioning through the air. Melee and crouch are higher-value in direct-fight scenarios than wall-run initiation.
Tactical equipment — now two charges by default
Two tactical items now give two starting charges in Season 8:
- Flash Drone — 1 → 2
- Inflatable Decoy — 1 → 2
These share the same key as before — no additional binding required. The second charge appears automatically on map load.
Why this matters for keymapping:
Two starting Decoys change how you use them. With one Decoy you might have held it for a specific situation. With two you can throw one aggressively and keep one in reserve. This changes the throw key from an occasional press to a rhythmic part of your engagement pattern — especially if you use Decoys to bait quickscopers at angles.
Check that your tactical throw key is single-step and fast. If it currently requires a modifier combo or a non-dominant finger, Season 8 is the right moment to fix it — you will use it twice as often.
Sticky Grenade change: The Sticky Grenade receives a radius increase (expanded to 5.5 m) and a raised minimum damage (80). If you run Sticky Grenades in ranked MP, this is your highest-damage offensive throw option. Confirm its key is accessible in close-range situations — the expanded radius means closer throws are now safer, so you should be throwing it more aggressively than in Season 7.
BR class changes — Quick Strike and Ninja
Two BR classes receive changes that have keymapping implications.
Quick Strike — dash distance reduced, damage significantly increased
The Quick Strike class dash covers less distance in Season 8, but deals significantly more damage on connection. The class goes from a mobility tool to a close-range punish tool.
Keymapping implication: if you run Quick Strike, the dash key shifts from a repositioning input you press from distance to a close-range combat key you use inside a fight. It should be reachable while your aim hand is tracking — on a mouse side-button or a left-hand key you can press simultaneously with WASD. If it is currently bound to a reach-across key, the shorter dash range and higher damage make that reach more costly to take.
Ninja — grapple range reduced to 15 m, more charges, shorter cooldown
The Ninja class grapple range shrinks from its current value to 15 metres, but you receive more charges and a faster cooldown. The class moves from long-range traversal to close-range burst mobility — multiple short repositions rather than one long escape.
Keymapping implication: with more charges available and shorter range, you will fire the grapple more frequently in a shorter time window. If your grapple key requires you to shift your hand position, you will fumble mid-burst. The grapple should be on a thumb key or mouse side-button — not a reach-across key.
If you previously used Ninja for long-range vertical traversal and had the grapple bound to a reach-accessible key because you pressed it rarely, the Season 8 changes justify moving it closer to home position.
Meta implications — ADS mode for S8 direct fights
Season 8 systematically nerfs mobility and buffs close-range damage (Quick Strike, Sticky Grenade, extra equipment charges). Fights happen at shorter range and end faster than in Season 7.
This makes Hold ADS the stronger default choice over Toggle ADS for most modes. In a shorter-range fight you need to ADS quickly, fire accurately, and immediately return to free-aim. Hold ADS gives that rhythm; Toggle requires two explicit presses and introduces a phase where you can miss returning to free-aim.
If you were running Toggle ADS for tap-shooting patterns at longer range, test Hold ADS in Practice mode. Season 8's balance changes reduce the scenarios where toggle was a meaningful advantage.
Quick reference — S8 priority bindings
| Binding | Recommended | S8 note |
|---|---|---|
| Jet Boost | Current key — confirm it still works | Wall-run removed; boost thrust still valid |
| Tactical equipment | Single key, no modifier | Two charges now — used more often |
| Sticky Grenade | Fast, single-press | Expanded radius = more aggressive use |
| Quick Strike dash | Mouse side-button or WASD-adjacent key | Shifted to close-range punish role |
| Ninja grapple | Mouse side-button or WASD-adjacent key | Multiple short casts, needs fast access |
| ADS mode | Hold (recommended for S8) | Direct fights end faster; Hold ADS matches the rhythm |
After the Season 8 update — preset check
CODM major patches occasionally reset Smart Tool bindings when the HUD layout changes. Season 8 does not add new input types, but the second charge on Flash Drone and Decoy adds new HUD state — worth verifying the binding still maps correctly.
Three-step post-update check:
- Open Smart Tool overlay in a practice lobby
- Scroll through all slots and confirm each binding shows what you set, not blank
- Fire each weapon type and throw each grenade type — confirm no silent mis-mapping
If a binding shows blank after Season 8 updates, reassign and save before queuing for a live match. A missing grenade key in the opening seconds of Ranked is not recoverable.
