PUBG Mobile keymapping for GameLoop PC 2026 — the layout that actually works

The default GameLoop keymap for PUBG Mobile is a starting template, not a finished product. Here is how to build a layout where every key is reachable in the middle of a fight and nothing conflicts.

PUBG Mobile's PC experience lives or dies on keymapping. Sensitivity is important — but keymapping is what determines whether you can actually use that sensitivity. The default layout GameLoop ships with PUBG Mobile was designed to cover every button, not to be fast. Players who use it unmodified reach for keys that are not there, miss the crouch toggle at the wrong moment, and lose fights they should win.

This guide covers the core philosophy, the actions that need instant access, and a concrete layout you can build from.

Why the default layout is a starting point, not a finish line

GameLoop's default PUBG Mobile keymap assigns keys based on their function categories — movement here, shooting there, items over there. That logic makes sense on paper. In a game, it falls apart because PUBG Mobile's fight loop requires fast simultaneous inputs:

  • You are moving (WASD) while firing (left click)
  • You are crouching or going prone while still tracking
  • You are cycling between sights while repositioning

If crouch is far from your movement keys, you will not crouch in time. If your throwable key requires a pinky stretch, you will not throw. If prone requires lifting your hand off the mouse, you will not go prone. The game punishes slow inputs harshly and does not forgive.

The principle: every action you take in a fight must be reachable from the home position (WASD + mouse) without moving your hand.

The home position rule

Your left hand rests on WASD. Your right hand is on the mouse. Every combat action should be reachable from these two positions. Anything you reach for with finger extensions, hand lifts, or awkward thumb curls is a key you will miss under pressure.

The reachable zone from WASD without moving your hand:

  • Left hand fingers: Q, E, R, F, C, V, Z, X, and the number row 1–5 (if you extend your index finger slightly)
  • Thumb: Space, Alt, left Ctrl

If a combat key sits outside this zone, it should either be reassigned or deprioritized to something you only press outside of fights (map, settings, scoreboard).

Core layout by action group

Movement

ActionRecommended key
Forward / Back / Left / RightW / S / A / D
SprintShift (hold)
Crouch (toggle)C
ProneZ
JumpSpace
Peek left / Peek rightQ / E

C for crouch and Z for prone are the most important reassignments from the default. If your default has crouch on something far away, move it here first. Peeks on Q and E keep your fingers on the home row.

Shooting and aiming

ActionRecommended key
FireLeft mouse button
ADS (aim down sights)Right mouse button
ReloadR
Switch firing modeB
Scope cycleMouse wheel or Tab
Pick up / InteractF

ADS on right mouse button is the same as nearly every PC shooter. Keep it there. Scope cycle on mouse wheel is fast — do not put it on a keyboard key unless your mouse wheel is unreliable.

Throwables and items

ActionRecommended key
Frag grenadeG
Smoke grenade5 (or whichever slot it occupies)
Medkit / Bandage7 / 8
Quick-use item slotV
InventoryI or Tab

Grenade on G is muscle memory from most other shooters. The quick-use item slot (typically bandage or first aid) should be something your thumb can reach without lifting off the mouse — V is the standard choice.

Do not assign healing to the number row above 5. You will never hit them in a fight.

Vehicle

ActionRecommended key
AccelerateW
ReverseS
TurnA / D
Enter / ExitF (same as interact)
BoostShift
Look backAlt (hold)

Vehicle controls usually reuse movement keys, which is correct — WASD transfers cleanly. The only vehicle-specific binding to set manually is "look back" on Alt, which lets you check behind you without turning the vehicle.

Map and UI

ActionRecommended key
MapM
ScoreboardTab (hold)
Voice chat push-to-talkT

These are not combat actions and can go anywhere on the keyboard. M for map is the standard from nearly every survival game.

The actions you should not bind to a key

Some PUBG Mobile buttons appear in the default keymap that you will never use at speed. Remove them or assign them to dead keys so they do not get pressed by accident:

  • Auto-fire toggle — If you use auto-fire on mobile, you do not need it on PC because you have a dedicated fire button. Leave this unbound.
  • Gyroscope toggle — Gyroscope does not apply to mouse input. Unbound.
  • Chat open — Fine to have, just not on a key adjacent to your movement keys. Put it on Enter.

How many layouts to maintain

GameLoop lets you save multiple keymaps. The practical minimum is two:

  1. Default (most weapons) — the layout above
  2. Vehicle layout — adjust any binding that conflicts with your vehicle control preference

Trying to maintain five different weapon-specific layouts leads to muscle memory inconsistency. One general layout with rare vehicle-specific adjustments is the approach most long-term PC players converge on.

Testing your layout

The training range in PUBG Mobile is the right place to test keymaps, not a live match. Spend five minutes there doing:

  1. Full sprint → crouch → prone → stand → jump in sequence. Every transition should be smooth.
  2. Fire, reload, ADS, fire again. No hesitation.
  3. Throw a grenade from sprinting position. You should not have to lift your hand.

If any of those sequences requires a hand adjustment, something is wrong with your layout. Find it and fix it before you play ranked.

Connecting this to sensitivity

Keymapping determines whether you can execute the action. Sensitivity determines whether the action connects. A correctly mapped crouch that still lets you track and shoot is the goal — which is why setting your mouse sensitivity correctly is the companion step.

The PUBG Mobile mouse sensitivity guide for GameLoop PC covers Layer 1 and Layer 2 calibration in the same level of detail as this article covers layout.

Quick reference table

The layout above covers PUBG Mobile in 2026 and will remain valid across future seasons — keymapping principles do not change when a new weapon or map arrives. Season-specific tips will appear in update articles as they release; the base layout stays the same.
