JOKR launcher in CODM Season 7 Terminated — how to make it work on PC
The JOKR's lock-on mechanic breaks silently with the wrong Smart Tool setting. One keymap change fixes it.
The JOKR arrives in Season 7 Terminated as a top-attack guided rocket launcher — lock on to a vehicle or scorestreak, fire, and the missile arcs upward and comes down onto the target regardless of whether it moves slightly after you fire. On mobile it works exactly as shown in every preview clip. On PC through GameLoop, a single keymap setting determines whether the lock-on ever completes.
Most PC players who say the JOKR "doesn't work" have the wrong ADS mode for their secondary slot.
Why the lock-on breaks on PC
The lock-on sequence has three phases: ADS enters (acquisition), you hold and track for roughly 1.5 seconds while a meter fills (tracking), and the reticle snaps red to confirm the lock. Firing before the reticle confirms sends a dumb-fire round with no guidance.
The problem: Phase 2 requires continuous ADS hold. The moment ADS breaks, the meter resets to zero. On mobile this is automatic — your thumb is either on the scope button or it is not. On PC with Smart Tool, ADS can be configured as a toggle: one tap enters ADS, a second tap exits. A toggle sends a press-then-release to the underlying input layer. The JOKR sees the release event and resets the meter. Phase 2 never completes.
The fix — one setting in Smart Tool
Open Smart Tool while GameLoop is running. Navigate to your secondary weapon slot (Slot 2). Find the ADS binding. There is a mode selector:
- Hold — ADS stays active while the physical key is held. Release = exit ADS.
- Toggle — one press enters, another exits.
Set it to Hold.
That is the entire fix for most PC JOKR users. You do not need to change your primary slot, and you do not need to change which key you use for ADS.
While you are in Slot 2 settings, check one more thing: auto-fire. If auto-fire is enabled, Smart Tool triggers the fire action as soon as you enter ADS. For primary weapons this can be a useful shortcut. For the JOKR it means the launcher fires at Phase 1 (acquisition), before lock-on completes, wasting the round. Turn auto-fire off for the secondary slot when the JOKR is equipped.
Save the preset, restart Smart Tool if the setting does not take immediately, and test in a Practice vs AI match: hold ADS on a stationary bot for two seconds and confirm the meter fills and the reticle goes red before you fire.
What the JOKR is for
Scorestreak control in multiplayer. A VTOL or Chopper Gunner that runs its full duration significantly shifts the scoreline. One JOKR round cancels it. Air targets lock faster than ground targets — approximately one second versus the standard 1.5–2 seconds for vehicles — because they are large and move predictably. The practical setup is JOKR in your secondary slot as a dedicated scorestreak response, primary weapon as your main combat tool. Play normally. When a high-value scorestreak appears in the kill feed, pull the JOKR, locate the target, lock, fire, swap back.
Vehicle denial in Battle Royale. A team moving across open ground in an ATV is vulnerable to a single JOKR round. The top-attack arc means you can fire from behind cover — aim upward from a ridgeline or the corner of a building. The missile clears the obstacle and comes down. In BR, the JOKR earns its weight in the midgame and beyond when vehicle travel is actively contested.
What it is not: an infantry weapon. The JOKR does not lock onto players. Against infantry it is a dumb-fire rocket with moderate splash. If you want a general-purpose rocket, use an RPG. The JOKR's value is specifically the guided top-attack arc on vehicles and scorestreaks.
Lock-on ranges
Air scorestreaks (VTOLs, helicopters, UAVs): approximately 200m lock-on radius, locks in ~1 second.
Ground vehicles: 80–120m effective range, 1.5–2 second lock. Beyond ~120m the arc is long enough that a moving vehicle can exit the blast radius before impact — direct fire is sometimes more reliable at very long ground distances.
Minimum range: approximately 15m. Closer than that and the top-attack arc overshoots. Against targets under 15m, dumb-fire aimed slightly above the target to compensate.
Countering the JOKR
If you are on the receiving end:
Change direction constantly in vehicles. The tracking phase requires 1.5–2 seconds of predictable movement. Short-interval direction changes delay or break the lock. Helicopters are most vulnerable while hovering — continuous movement makes locking significantly harder.
Get under cover. The top-attack arc means the missile comes from above. A bridge overhang, tunnel entrance, or building roof negates the guidance entirely — the missile hits the structure before reaching the vehicle below. More players should use this.
Pressure the launcher user. The 1.5–2 second tracking window is 1.5–2 seconds of standing still while holding a launcher. An attentive opponent who spots the JOKR animation can punish it before lock completes.
Quick troubleshoot
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Meter resets immediately | ADS is set to Toggle in Slot 2 | Change Slot 2 ADS to Hold in Smart Tool |
| Fires before reticle goes red | Auto-fire is on for secondary slot | Disable auto-fire for Slot 2 |
| Missile misses after red reticle | Fired before full lock confirmation | Wait for solid red fill before firing |
| JOKR not available yet | S7 client not updated | Force-update via TAC client or GameLoop's update prompt |
| Hold ADS not saving | Smart Tool needs restart after save | Close and reopen Smart Tool fully |
