CODM Season 8 preview — Honkai Impact 3rd crossover confirmed, GameLoop PC prep guide
Season 7 Terminated closes on 3 September. Here is everything confirmed for Season 8 and what GameLoop PC players should do to be ready on launch day.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 launches on 3 September 2026. Season 7 Terminated runs until that patch goes live, giving PC players on GameLoop roughly four days from the time of writing to complete any remaining Season 7 content. This guide covers what is confirmed for Season 8, the platform-specific preparation that makes launch day smoother on an emulator, and what to finish in Season 7 before the rollover.
What is confirmed for Season 8
Honkai Impact 3rd crossover
The headline addition for Season 8 is a collaboration with Honkai Impact 3rd, miHoYo's action RPG. The partnership was officially announced by Activision during the Season 7 event livestream and confirmed by both the official CODM Bilibili account and miHoYo. The teaser reached 150,000 views on Bilibili within hours of posting, making this one of the more anticipated CODM crossovers of 2026.
Three operators are confirmed, each based on the Herrscher forms of Honkai Impact 3rd's main trio:
| CODM Operator | Honkai Identity | Form |
|---|---|---|
| Rin Yoshida | Raiden Mei | Herrscher of Thunder |
| Siren | Kiana Kaslana | Herrscher of Flamescion |
| Kestrel | Bronya Zaychik | Herrscher of Reason |
Cosmetics confirmed include the three operator skins and Honkai-themed weapon blueprints. Acquisition is expected to follow CODM's standard anime-crossover format — Lucky Draw — meaning a premium draw with rotating featured items. Activision has not released the draw structure, pricing, or full content list at the time of writing; those details will appear in the in-game store when Season 8 goes live.
On GameLoop PC, the crossover content requires no special setup. Operator skins and weapon blueprints apply at the character select and loadout screens and have no effect on emulator performance. Lucky Draws open in the store tab the same way on PC as on mobile.
Launch day preparation for GameLoop PC
Three steps will make 3 September easier regardless of what Season 8's full patch notes contain.
1. Free at least 5 GB of disk space before the patch
Season patches for CODM regularly add 1.5–3 GB of new assets. Season 8 introduces three full crossover operators — each with distinct idle animations, voice lines, and visual effects — which pushes the asset bundle toward the higher end of that range.
The in-game updater downloads assets in the background on first launch, but it will fail silently if the target drive is close to full. The failure looks like a crash or a hang rather than a storage error, which means you will waste time troubleshooting the wrong thing. The safe threshold is at least 5 GB free before you open TAC on launch day. Check now: TAC → Performance → Storage Management shows how much CODM is using on your current drive.
2. Screenshot your Season 7 settings and rank before the rollover
Two things worth documenting before Season 7 ends:
- Settings: TAC → Engine Mode (DirectX+ or OpenGL+), Memory Allocation, and your in-game sensitivity profile. Seasonal patches occasionally reset engine-mode preferences. Screenshots cost nothing and save twenty minutes of recalibration on launch day.
- Ranked stats: your current season rank and any milestone emblem worth keeping for the record. Season 7 ranks decay into Season 8 starting positions rather than wiping — but the Season 7 emblem stays on your profile as permanent history.
3. Check for a TAC client update before 3 September
Activision occasionally pushes a small TAC client patch in the 24 hours before a season launch. Installing it mid-match causes TAC to restart and close CODM. Install it before 3 September instead: TAC → Profile icon (top right) → Check for Updates. If a pending update is shown, it installs in under two minutes.
Clear cache the moment Season 8 goes live
Every new season ships a fresh asset manifest. TAC's local cache still references Season 7 asset paths until it rebuilds, which causes missing-texture loading bugs and occasional crashes on first launch.
The fix is one step:
TAC → Performance → Clear Cache → relaunch CODM
This is worth doing on the first launch of every new season. The cache rebuild adds about thirty seconds to the next load. From the second launch onward, performance returns to normal or better — new-season assets are cached cleanly.
Season 7 to Season 8 rollover — what carried forward
Season 7 "Terminated" ended when Season 8 launched on 3 September 2026. Content that expired at the rollover:
- Battle Pass tiers: uncollected items on the Season 7 Battle Pass track (including any unclaimed premium operator skins) — the track closed when the season ended.
- Event-exclusive operators: the Terminator 2 collaboration event track and Arcade Event milestones expired with the season. Event progress did not carry forward.
Content that carried forward to Season 8:
- All Battle Pass items already unlocked during Season 7 — permanent once earned
- Account level, CP balance, and the full weapon unlock tree
- Every operator already in your collection
- Saved loadouts
- Your GameLoop keymapping and sensitivity configuration — TAC stores it locally and Season 8 does not reset it
If you want a full view of what Season 7 shipped, the Season 7 complete guide hub covers the entire content list. The before it ends guide covers the priority order in more detail if you only have a few sessions left.
What we do not know yet
Outside the Honkai Impact 3rd crossover, the following are unconfirmed at the time of writing:
- Season 8 name and full theme
- New weapons added to the game
- New multiplayer modes or map changes
- Battle Pass operator roster beyond the crossover characters
- Lucky Draw structure and CP cost for the crossover skins

FAQ
When exactly does CODM Season 8 go live? Season 8 launches on 3 September 2026. Activision typically flips the patch at 5:00 PM PT (01:00 UTC on 4 September, or 04:00 on 4 September in Turkey). Watch the in-game countdown for the confirmed live time.
Do I need to reinstall GameLoop or TAC for Season 8? No. Season updates patch CODM's files through the existing TAC update system. Open TAC, launch CODM, and the updater downloads the patch automatically. After the first launch, clear cache once (TAC → Performance → Clear Cache) — that is the only seasonal maintenance step.
Will the Honkai Impact 3rd operators be available through free grinding? The three confirmed crossover operators are expected to come from the Lucky Draw, which requires CP. Activision has not announced a free acquisition path for these specific operators. As with all Lucky Draw items, COD Points earned through standard gameplay can partially offset cost, but the draw itself is not free.
Do GameLoop and mobile players share the same Season 8 patch? Yes. The Season 8 patch applies to both platforms simultaneously. CODM cross-platform matchmaking remains active — GameLoop PC players continue to match against both mobile and PC opponents by default.
Where can I follow Season 8 announcements as they arrive? The official source is callofduty.com. For emulator-specific coverage, gameloop.blog publishes a settings and keymapping guide for every new season within the first 24 hours of launch.
