CODM Season 7 Terminated — launch-day problems on GameLoop PC and how to fix them

Season 7 is live and something stopped working. Here are the most common launch-day issues on GameLoop PC and what actually fixes them.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 — Terminated — is live on 5 August. On GameLoop PC, a season patch usually introduces a predictable set of problems: things that worked yesterday do not work today, and the first instinct is to reinstall everything. Do not. This page covers the actual fixes.

Update won't download or download is stuck

The download bar is not moving. Close Call of Duty: Mobile through GameLoop, wait 60 seconds, then reopen it through GameLoop. In most cases the updater resumes from where it left off. If it restarts from 0%, that is normal — the partial progress was not saved.

The download is very slow. The first hour after a season goes live is the slowest. Millions of players are downloading from the same servers. Disconnect your VPN if you have one running — GameLoop and CODM use geo-routed delivery and a VPN routes you away from the nearest server. Starting the download one to two hours after the announced launch window consistently produces faster results.

The download fails partway through. A failed download can leave a corrupted partial file. If the update fails repeatedly at the same percentage, open Settings in CODM and use the repair or verify option if one is available. If not, clear the CODM local data from GameLoop's app management and start the download again.

Game won't start after the Season 7 update

Close GameLoop completely — not just CODM, but the GameLoop application itself. Reopen GameLoop as administrator (right-click → Run as administrator). Then launch CODM. A post-update first launch on GameLoop often requires the elevated permission to write updated files correctly.

If the game still will not start, check for background GameLoop processes in Task Manager. Some persist after the window closes. End them, wait thirty seconds, then reopen GameLoop.

Crash on startup — the AOW 64-bit engine

If the game crashes immediately on the startup screen or freezes before reaching the login screen, this is the known AOW 64-bit engine crash that has been present in GameLoop since December 2025. Tencent's own workaround is to switch to the 32-bit engine:

Open GameLoop → Settings → Engine → switch from AOW 64-bit to AOW 32-bit → restart GameLoop and relaunch CODM.

The 32-bit engine has a lower graphical ceiling, but it runs Call of Duty: Mobile without the crash. If a future GameLoop update resolves this, switching back is the same two steps.

Key mappings reset to defaults

Season patches reset custom keybinds to defaults. This is expected behaviour, not a bug. After Season 7 installs, open Settings → Controls in CODM and restore your key layout.

If you exported a screenshot of your bindings before the patch, restoration takes under two minutes. If you did not, you are rebuilding from memory.

Season 7 adds two new modes — the Gulag (Battle Royale) and RC-XD Racing — both of which use vehicle controls. Vehicle key mapping is separate from on-foot mapping. Open GameLoop's key mapping editor (Settings → Key mapping → Custom) and verify the vehicle bindings: acceleration, braking, and steering. Adjust them before your first Gulag or RC-XD Racing session to avoid surprises mid-match.

Graphics settings changed after the update

Major patches reset the graphics preset. After the Season 7 update you may find the renderer has changed, the resolution is different, or the frame cap was cleared. Go to Settings → Graphics in CODM and restore your preferred configuration.

Two points that catch people off guard:

  • Renderer: If you were on DX11 and the game reset to DX9 (or vice versa), restore it manually. DX11 supports higher graphical settings on most current hardware.
  • Frame cap: If the game feels uncapped or is running at more frames than before, the limit was likely cleared by the patch. Restore it in Settings → Graphics.

Black screen when launching CODM after Season 7

A black screen on launch — audio playing but nothing visible — is most commonly a graphics mode conflict. Try switching the renderer: if you are on DX11, switch to DX9, then close and reopen. If you are on DX9, try DX11.

If the renderer switch does not help, close GameLoop, reopen it as administrator, and relaunch CODM.

A less common cause is a conflict with a running overlay, screen capture tool, or anti-cheat application from another game. Disable any active overlays temporarily to rule this out.

Frame drops and bad performance in the first session

Frame drops and stutters in the first one or two matches after a major update are the game compiling shaders in the background. This is normal and stops on its own.

Do not lower your graphics settings during the first session. Let it run, then measure performance in the second session. If the problem is gone by session two, the shader compilation was the cause and nothing needs adjusting. If the problem persists into the third and fourth session, that is worth investigating — check GPU temperature, lower the graphics preset, or switch the renderer.

Season 7 update not appearing — game still on Season 6

If the update has not appeared, check the regional rollout time. Seasons go live at a specified PDT time, which translates to different local hours. The update may not be available in your region yet.

If enough time has passed and the update still is not visible, close CODM completely and reopen it. The update prompt occasionally requires a fresh game launch to appear.
