CODM Season 7 Server Down or Not Connecting on GameLoop — How to Check and Fix
Season 7 launch day floods Activision's servers. Here is how to tell whether the problem is on their side or yours, and what to do either way.
On Season 7 launch day, CODM servers experience unusually high load. The result on GameLoop PC looks identical whether the servers are down or your local setup is the problem — a connection error, an infinite loading screen, or a "checking resources" loop. This guide separates the two cases so you do not spend time troubleshooting something you cannot fix.
Step 1 — Check whether the servers are actually down
Before changing any GameLoop settings, confirm the outage is real:
Activision support status page — Activision publishes real-time server status at support.activision.com/codmobile. Green means the servers are up; yellow or red means they acknowledge an outage.
Downdetector — downdetector.com/status/call-of-duty is the fastest community signal. Spike in reports plus a red status page means a confirmed outage. Reports without a red status page usually means the problem is local to a region or ISP.
Mobile check — if you have a phone on a different connection (mobile data, not the same Wi-Fi), launch CODM on mobile. If mobile connects and GameLoop PC does not, the problem is local to your machine or network, not the servers.
If the servers are confirmed down, the only fix is to wait. Activision typically resolves launch-day load spikes within one to three hours. There is nothing to change on GameLoop.
Step 2 — Errors that look like server issues but are local
If the server status page is green and mobile connects fine, these GameLoop-side issues produce the same visible symptoms:
"Checking resources" loop
CODM is still downloading or verifying season assets. This is normal on first launch after a major update. It can take 5–20 minutes depending on connection speed.
If it loops for more than 15 minutes without progress: close GameLoop completely using Task Manager (kill TxGameAssistant), reopen, and let it resume. Do not skip the verification step; partial assets cause crashes.
"Network error" or "connection failed" on login
The most common local cause after a season update is a stale DNS cache or a temporary routing issue between your ISP and Activision's servers.
Fix:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run
ipconfig /flushdnsand press Enter. - Relaunch GameLoop and try again.
If that does not work, switch your DNS to a public resolver. In Windows Network Settings, set your DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google). These often resolve faster to Activision's CDN than your ISP's default resolver.
Stuck on the CODM loading screen after login
A stuck loading screen after authentication — where the game has logged in but the main menu never loads — is usually a shader pre-compilation step, not a connection failure. CODM compiles a new shader set on first launch after a season update. It should complete within 3–5 minutes. If it stays stuck beyond 10 minutes:
- Close GameLoop (Task Manager → kill TxGameAssistant).
- Open GameLoop settings → Performance → Clear Cache.
- Relaunch.
Can't log in — "Login failed" error
If you reach the login screen but authentication fails, this is separate from a server outage. See Season 7 update and launch problems for authentication error codes and what each one means.
Update is not showing yet
If Season 7 does not appear as an update in GameLoop at all, the game may be serving the update in waves. Updates roll out region by region, not all at once. Wait 30–60 minutes and check again. If it still does not appear, see S7 update not showing on GameLoop.
Step 3 — If you are on a VPN
If you normally run GameLoop with a VPN (for ping reduction with tools like ExitLag or NordVPN), a server-side routing change during a major update can cause the VPN tunnel to produce higher latency than usual for a few hours while Activision's CDN stabilises.
On launch day specifically: temporarily disable the VPN, connect directly, and verify the base connection first. Once servers stabilise — usually within 2–4 hours of launch — re-enable the VPN and confirm your ping improves.
What a real GameLoop-side problem looks like
If you can load CODM on mobile but cannot connect on GameLoop PC, the issue is within GameLoop or your machine:
- GameLoop is blocked by Windows Firewall — open Windows Defender Firewall → Allow an app, verify TxGameAssistant and GameLoop have both private and public access.
- Antivirus is quarantining a GameLoop file — season updates extract new files; some antivirus tools flag them. Check your AV quarantine log.
- Wrong AOW mode — CODM Season 7 requires the 32-bit AOW client. If you are running 64-bit mode, switch in GameLoop Settings → Engine → AOW Mode → 32-bit.
Typical launch-day timeline
Season 7 launches on 5 August 2026. Based on past CODM season launches, the pattern is:
- First 30–60 minutes: highest server load, most players attempting to log in simultaneously. Expect the slowest experience here.
- 1–3 hours post-launch: servers stabilise for most regions.
- First 24 hours: isolated issues resolve as Activision pushes hotfixes.
If it is the first 30 minutes and you cannot connect, the single best action is to wait. Retrying repeatedly during peak load does not help and can lock your session token.
Summary
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone can't connect | Server outage | Wait |
| Mobile connects, PC doesn't | Local network or GameLoop | Flush DNS, check firewall |
| Checking resources loops >15 min | Corrupt download | Kill TxGameAssistant, restart |
| Stuck loading screen after login | Shader compilation | Clear cache, restart |
| No S7 update visible | Update rollout | Wait 30–60 min |
