Wild Rift on GameLoop: PC Controls and Setup Guide

Wild Rift has a dedicated PC control mode in GameLoop. The layout maps almost directly to PC League of Legends — QWER for abilities, D/F for summoner spells, mouse for aim. If you have played PC LoL, the transition takes one practice game to settle.

Wild Rift is co-published by Riot Games and Tencent in most markets. GameLoop, which Tencent operates, officially includes Wild Rift in its Game Center catalog. This means installation follows the same path as CODM or Mobile Legends — no sideloading, no APK, no third-party sources. The game treats GameLoop as a supported client.

Install

  1. Open GameLoop and search "League of Legends: Wild Rift" in the Game Center.
  2. Install. GameLoop pulls the Play Store version directly.
  3. On first launch, sign in with your Riot Account. Progress, rank, and champions transfer from mobile immediately.
  4. Before any ranked match, start one PvP or practice game and open the in-game settings to enable PC Control Mode (see next section). The default mobile layout is functional but not optimal for keyboard and mouse.

If your mobile progress is on a guest account, link it to a Riot Account first via the mobile app's settings. Guest accounts cannot transfer to a new device without this step.

PC Control Mode

This is the most important setting in Wild Rift for emulator players.

Go to in-game Settings (gear icon) → Controls → PC Control Mode and enable it.

PC Control Mode changes the input model from "virtual joystick + touchscreen skill buttons" to a layout closer to PC League of Legends:

  • Movement: click the map to move, same as PC LoL. The virtual joystick is still available but most players ignore it with a mouse.
  • Abilities: QWER map to the four abilities. R fires the ultimate.
  • Summoner Spells: D and F.
  • Basic attack: left mouse button (or A + click for attack-move).
  • Aim: mouse position relative to your champion sets the direction for all targeted abilities.

Without PC Control Mode, you are fighting the mobile layout through GameLoop's keymapping layer. With it enabled, the game configures the input system for you. The result is a control scheme that feels like an abridged version of PC LoL rather than a mobile game on a keyboard.

Keymapping reference

The following layout assumes PC Control Mode is on. These are the bindings most players settle on after a session.

ActionSuggested Key
Move (click to move)Left mouse button
Attack-moveA + left mouse button
Ability 1Q
Ability 2W
Ability 3E
UltimateR
Summoner Spell 1D
Summoner Spell 2F
Basic attack (auto-attack toggle)
Item 11
Item 22
Item 33
RecallB
ScoreboardTab
PingG
Toggle camera lockY

Adjust Item bindings if you use the same keys in GameLoop's side toolbar. G conflicts with GameLoop's graphics menu by default — rebind it in GameLoop's settings, not in Wild Rift.

Smart Cast

Wild Rift has a per-ability Smart Cast toggle in Settings → Controls → Smart Cast.

Smart Cast on: pressing the key fires the ability immediately in the direction your mouse points. No range circle, no confirmation. Feels like PC LoL with Smart Cast.

Smart Cast off (Normal Cast): pressing the key shows the targeting indicator first. You confirm by clicking. Safer for precise skillshots where committing early throws the ability.

Recommended starting point: Smart Cast on for Q and E (basic damage abilities), Smart Cast off for W and R (displacement or high-value abilities where position matters). Adjust after a few games — if you are landing R consistently you can switch it to Smart Cast, and if Q misses at range switch it to Normal Cast.

The change takes effect immediately, with no restart required.

Camera

Wild Rift's camera defaults to locked (it follows your champion). This is comfortable for mobile but most PC players prefer unlocked or semi-locked once they have a keyboard.

Toggle locked/unlocked camera with Y (or whichever key you assign in GameLoop's keymapping layer). Camera speed, which controls how quickly the camera follows your champion, is in Settings → Camera. The default value of 5 is fine for locked camera play. Raise it to 6 or 7 if you play with the camera free and want faster panning.

Coming from PC LoL: the camera distance in Wild Rift is fixed (you cannot zoom out). The fixed zoom is slightly closer than LoL's default, which is the main visual difference during jungle pathing. It takes about two games to stop clicking the wrong spot because of this difference.

Performance settings

Wild Rift is not a demanding title. Any machine capable of running CODM at 60fps handles Wild Rift without adjustment.

GameLoop settings: 4096 MB memory allocation, 60fps target.

In-game graphics: set to High under Settings → Graphics. On a desktop monitor, High is visually indistinguishable from Medium, and the particle effects during teamfights are cleaner. If you are on an integrated GPU, use Medium to keep framerate stable through five-player fights.

Wild Rift's frame cap in-game caps at 60fps by default. There is a 120fps option under Settings → Graphics → Frame Rate, but it requires your device to support it and benefits most from a 120 Hz monitor. On a 60 Hz panel the difference is not perceptible.

Role-based notes

Marksmen (ADC): Mouse aim benefits kite-heavy carries directly. Caitlyn traps and Ashe volleys land more reliably when you are not fighting touch accuracy. Left-click attack-move (A + click) removes the risk of walking toward the enemy when you miss-click between minions.

Supports: Keep Smart Cast off for your primary engage or tether ability (Seraphine E, Nautilus Q). You want the range indicator visible before committing to a hook from distance. Switch to Smart Cast after you understand the range by feel.

Assassins and junglers: Smart Cast on for everything. Burst combos (Zed, Akali) are frame-dependent; the Smart Cast confirmation delay changes the timing. Camera speed at 6 or higher lets you check the Baron or Dragon pit without moving your champion.

Mid lane: The center of the map means you are always within pivot distance of two side lanes. Use the ping key (G) more than you would on mobile — typed communication is slower than pings, and mid-to-bot/top rotation calls land faster when made visually.

Common questions

Will my account be penalized for using GameLoop? GameLoop is an officially supported client for Wild Rift in markets where Tencent co-publishes the game. Accounts on GameLoop are not flagged. Check Riot's current regional availability page to confirm Wild Rift is active in your region before starting.

Does mobile rank and progress transfer? Yes. All progress is tied to your Riot Account, not the device. Sign in with the same account on GameLoop and mobile — data is identical.

Can I use the same account on mobile and GameLoop at the same time? One active session per account. Logging in on GameLoop ends your mobile session, and vice versa.

Wild Rift says my region is unavailable. Riot paused new content and updates in several regions (including most of Europe) in 2023. The game client may not work in regions where it was discontinued. If the game installs but cannot connect, it is a regional restriction on Riot's servers, not a GameLoop problem.

Skills fire in the wrong direction. PC Control Mode is probably off. Enable it in Settings → Controls → PC Control Mode. Without it, ability direction is set by the touchscreen skill button position, not mouse position.

Ping is high on GameLoop but fine on mobile. GameLoop connects to the nearest Riot server it can reach. Wild Rift's server selection is under Settings → Network → Server Region — set it explicitly to your nearest server rather than auto. This fixes routing mismatches where GameLoop's datacenter selection differs from your mobile carrier's routing.
