Rise of Kingdoms on GameLoop PC: Setup, Keymapping, and Multi-Instance Guide

Rise of Kingdoms is a long-session strategy game — managing a city, marching armies, and monitoring the map for hours at a time. Playing on PC with a mouse and full keyboard control changes the experience considerably.

Rise of Kingdoms is a real-time strategy game developed by Lilith Games. You build and expand a city, research technologies, train armies, form alliances, and participate in large-scale map warfare against players worldwide. Sessions are long — active players check in multiple times a day to collect resources, manage troops, and respond to alliance events.

Lilith Games offers a branded PC launcher for Rise of Kingdoms, but it is essentially a bundled emulator. Many players choose GameLoop instead for better resource management, more control over performance settings, and the ability to run multiple governor accounts in separate instances simultaneously. This guide covers the full setup on GameLoop.

Why Play Rise of Kingdoms on PC

Screen size makes a significant difference. The kingdom map in Rise of Kingdoms spans a large coordinate grid. On a phone screen, scouting nearby tiles, identifying enemy marches, and monitoring resource nodes requires constant zooming. On a 24-inch monitor you can read the map at a scale that is simply not possible on a 6-inch display.

Mouse control improves city and map management. Placing buildings, navigating menus, scrolling the map, and dragging march formations are all faster and more precise with a mouse than with touch input. Long construction queues and research chains — which are the core of early and mid-game progression — take less time to manage.

No battery or heat limits. Rise of Kingdoms runs in the background even when you are not actively playing — resource timers tick, construction continues, and alliance events can trigger at any moment. Running it on PC eliminates the battery drain and thermal throttling that causes phones to reduce screen brightness and CPU performance during extended sessions.

Multi-account management. Many competitive RoK players maintain a main governor and one or more farming accounts on the same kingdom, or run accounts across multiple kingdoms. GameLoop's multi-instance feature allows you to run two governor accounts simultaneously in separate windows — impossible on a single phone without switching profiles constantly.

System Requirements

Rise of Kingdoms is not graphically intensive. The game was designed for mid-range Android hardware from 2020–2022. Any modern PC runs it comfortably.

ComponentMinimumRecommended
CPUIntel Core i3 (6th gen+)Intel Core i5 / Ryzen 5
RAM4 GB (game uses ~1.5 GB per instance)8 GB (for dual instance)
GPUIntegrated graphicsDedicated GPU (any)
Storage4 GB free8 GB free (for dual instance)
OSWindows 7 64-bitWindows 10/11 64-bit

If you plan to run two instances simultaneously, 8 GB of RAM is the practical minimum. 16 GB makes it comfortable.

Installation

  1. Open GameLoop and click the Game Center icon in the sidebar.
  2. Search for "Rise of Kingdoms".
  3. Click Install. The download is approximately 1.5–2 GB on first install, with additional in-game downloads on first launch.
  4. Click Play when the installation completes.

If Rise of Kingdoms does not appear in Game Center: Download the APK from APKPure (apkpure.com — search "Rise of Kingdoms") and drag the APK file into the GameLoop window. GameLoop will install it directly. Use this method only if the Game Center search fails.

Account login: Rise of Kingdoms supports login via Game Center (Lilith account), Facebook, Apple ID, or Google Play. Sign in with the same method you use on mobile to load your existing governor. If you have been playing as a guest on mobile, convert to a linked account first inside the mobile game (Settings → Account) — guest accounts cannot be transferred to a new device.

Keymapping

Rise of Kingdoms is a strategy game with deep menus rather than reflex-based controls. You do not need a complex keymapping layout, but a few bindings make the experience noticeably faster.

Open the GameLoop keyboard editor (the keyboard icon in the top right of the window) and apply these bindings:

ActionSuggested Key
Scroll map upW or ↑
Scroll map downS or ↓
Scroll map leftA or ←
Scroll map rightD or →
Zoom inMouse scroll wheel up
Zoom outMouse scroll wheel down
Select / ConfirmLeft mouse click
Back / Close menuEscape
Open CityB (for "Base")
AllianceG
TechnologyT
CommanderC
World Map toggleM

Movement and scrolling: GameLoop maps the WASD keys to the directional swipe gesture on the game's map. This means pressing W scrolls the map north, S scrolls south, and so on — the same way you would drag on a touchscreen. Scroll wheel zoom works intuitively.

Right-click: In Rise of Kingdoms, right-clicking within GameLoop typically dismisses the active menu or goes back one screen — equivalent to the Android back gesture. This is useful for navigating out of deep menu trees quickly.

Performance Settings

Open GameLoop Settings (gear icon at the top right).

Emulator tab:

  • Resolution: 1920×1080 (match your monitor)
  • FPS: 60
  • Memory: 3072 MB for a single instance; 2048 MB per instance if running two

Graphics tab:

  • Set to High Performance mode in GameLoop's engine selector

In-game graphics: In Rise of Kingdoms, go to Settings → Graphics and set the quality to High. The game's art style is not demanding; high settings run without frame drops on any integrated or dedicated GPU that meets the minimum system requirements above.

Turbo Mode: Do not enable GameLoop's Turbo mode for Rise of Kingdoms. The game has server-side timers that are not affected by emulation speed, and Turbo mode will not accelerate construction, research, or troop training. It will only cause visual artifacts.

Multi-Instance: Running Two Governors

One of the strongest reasons to use GameLoop over Lilith's official PC launcher is multi-instance support.

To open a second instance:

  1. In the GameLoop main window, click Multi-Instance (the icon that shows two overlapping windows, in the left sidebar).
  2. Click Add Instance and select New instance.
  3. Set the memory for the second instance (2048 MB is sufficient for a second RoK governor).
  4. Open Rise of Kingdoms in the second instance and log in with your second account.

Both instances run in separate windows. You can tile them side by side or use Alt+Tab to switch between them. Resource collection, alliance events, and farm account management become significantly more efficient when both windows are visible simultaneously.

Note on multi-instance and bans: Using two accounts on the same kingdom with coordinated resource transfers or combat assistance violates Rise of Kingdoms' Terms of Service. Bans for this are account-level and enforced by Lilith's own server-side detection, not emulator detection. Two accounts on different kingdoms, or a farm account used only for resource gathering, is a grey area that many players use without consequence — but be aware of the ToS.

Common Issues and Fixes

Rise of Kingdoms shows a black screen on launch:

  • Close GameLoop completely and reopen it.
  • In GameLoop Settings → Emulator → set the engine to Compat mode (instead of Auto). Some systems require this for Lilith Games titles.
  • Make sure Virtualization (VT-x / AMD-V) is enabled in your BIOS. GameLoop requires hardware virtualization to run Android apps.

The game runs at low FPS even on good hardware:

  • Set GameLoop's memory allocation for RoK to at least 3072 MB.
  • In GameLoop Settings → Performance, switch from Balanced to High Performance.
  • Close other browser tabs and applications — RoK loads a live map with other players' activity and benefits from available RAM.

The map scroll is too slow or too fast with WASD:

  • Open the GameLoop keyboard editor and adjust the joystick radius for the movement zone. A larger radius scrolls the map faster; a smaller radius gives finer control.

Rise of Kingdoms says "your device is not supported":

  • Go to GameLoop Settings → Emulator → set the Android version to Android 7 or Android 9. Some older builds of RoK had compatibility flags that excluded certain emulator signatures. Changing the Android version resets this.

My march finished but I cannot see my troops returning:

  • This is a display issue, not a data issue. Force-close the game from within GameLoop (right-click the game icon → Force stop) and reopen it. Your troops will be home.

Tips for Long Sessions

Rise of Kingdoms rewards checking in regularly rather than playing in long uninterrupted sessions — construction queues complete in minutes to hours, and alliance rally events have strict time windows. PC play suits this style well.

  • Use GameLoop's Always On Top mode (Window → Pin on Top) to keep the RoK window visible over other applications. You can monitor the map while working, then click in when an event fires.
  • Enable audio for alliance notifications. RoK's notification sounds carry through GameLoop's audio output — you will hear the alert for incoming attacks or alliance pings without watching the screen constantly.
  • Bookmark your kingdom coordinates. The first time you find your city, use RoK's built-in bookmark feature (telescope icon → Add Bookmark) to save your governor's coordinates. Navigation back to your city from a scouting expedition is much faster than scrolling the full map.

FAQ

Can I play my existing mobile governor on GameLoop? Yes. Log in with the same method you use on mobile (Game Center, Facebook, Google, or Apple) and your governor loads immediately. All buildings, research, troops, and alliance membership transfer. Rise of Kingdoms is entirely server-side.

Does Rise of Kingdoms detect GameLoop as an emulator and ban me? As of 2026, Lilith Games does not ban accounts for playing Rise of Kingdoms on any emulator, including GameLoop. The game's emulator detection is limited to flagging certain automated scripts — not the emulator itself. Hundreds of thousands of players use emulators for RoK, and Lilith's own PC launcher is emulator-based.

Will I have an advantage over mobile players? In active combat — where rapid finger tapping matters — the difference is minimal in Rise of Kingdoms. The game's battle outcomes are calculated server-side based on troop counts, technology levels, and commander skills. However, in map management, resource logistics, and alliance coordination, PC players are measurably more efficient because they can see more of the map at once and navigate menus faster.

Can I use a controller instead of keyboard-and-mouse? You can connect an Xbox or PlayStation controller to GameLoop and use it as input. The GameLoop controller emulation maps thumbsticks to map scrolling. Most RoK players on PC prefer mouse-and-keyboard for the precision, but controller input works if you prefer it.

How do I transfer to a different kingdom? Kingdom transfers use in-game items (New Civilization Titles, or Passport in certain events). This is the same process whether you are on mobile or PC — GameLoop does not add or remove any capabilities here. Check the RoK wiki for current transfer requirements for your governor's power level.
