Honkai Impact 3rd on GameLoop PC: Setup, Controls, and Settings Guide
Honkai Impact 3rd runs cleanly on GameLoop — your mobile account transfers automatically through your HoYoverse account, and the action controls map well to keyboard and mouse once keymapping is set.
Honkai Impact 3rd is HoYoverse's action RPG — a high-speed combat game built around anime-style Valkyries, stylized visuals, and demanding reflex-based gameplay. It has a native PC client via the HoYoverse launcher, but many players prefer GameLoop for specific reasons: you get the mobile build of the game (which has different server events and content timing compared to the PC client), and it keeps your emulator setup consistent with other GameLoop games like CODM or PUBG Mobile.
This guide covers GameLoop installation, keymapping for the action combat, and settings for smooth performance.
Official PC client versus GameLoop
HoYoverse's official PC launcher runs the desktop build of HI3 directly. It looks and performs better on high-end hardware. If you have a gaming PC and care only about best performance, the official client is the right choice.
GameLoop is worth choosing when:
- You want to play the mobile-specific version of HI3, which sometimes has earlier event access or different content pacing than the PC build
- You are already running other games in GameLoop and want one launcher
- Your PC cannot handle the official PC client's higher requirements but can manage GameLoop's Android environment
Your HoYoverse account syncs across both. Switching between the official PC client and GameLoop does not affect your account data — you can use either interchangeably.
Installing Honkai Impact 3rd on GameLoop
- Open GameLoop and click Game Center in the top navigation.
- Search "Honkai Impact 3" — it appears in the search results as a listed game.
- Click Install. GameLoop downloads and installs the Android APK.
- Launch the game and log in with your HoYoverse account (the same one you use on mobile or the official PC client).
On first launch, the game downloads an additional 2–4 GB of asset content. This is normal — let it complete before entering any combat content. Interrupting the download mid-way sometimes corrupts the asset cache and requires a reinstall.
Regional note: Some regional builds of HI3 have different distribution paths. The global version (published by HoYoverse) installs via the method above. If you play a regional version (CN, KR, JP), you may need to install the corresponding APK directly through GameLoop's APK import feature.
Keymapping
Honkai Impact 3rd's mobile controls use a virtual joystick for movement and screen taps for attacks. On GameLoop, map these to keyboard and mouse as follows:
| Action | Suggested key |
|---|---|
| Move forward | W |
| Move backward | S |
| Move left | A |
| Move right | D |
| Basic attack | Left mouse button |
| Dodge / evade | Space |
| Skill 1 | Q |
| Skill 2 | E |
| Ultimate | R |
| Switch character | 1, 2, 3 |
| Lock-on target | Tab |
| Sprint (hold) | Left Shift |
For movement, use GameLoop's Virtual Joystick (WASD) type rather than individual directional taps. HI3 combat is fluid — analog movement keeps your Valkyrie responsive during dodge-attack sequences.
For dodge (Space): timing the dodge in HI3 is the core skill mechanic. A correctly timed dodge triggers Extreme Evasion, which slows enemy attacks and gives you an opening. On PC with a dedicated key, the timing window feels more consistent than on touchscreen.
For ultimate (R): HI3 ultimates often require holding the button rather than a quick tap. In the GameLoop editor, make sure the binding is set to Hold rather than Tap for the Ultimate action.
Graphics and performance settings
HI3's 3D combat is demanding. Start with these GameLoop settings:
GameLoop engine settings (accessed via the ⚙️ icon in the top-right toolbar):
- CPU cores: 4
- Memory allocation: 4096 MB (increase to 6144 MB on 16 GB+ systems)
- Frame rate: 60fps
- Resolution: 1280×720 as baseline; increase if your GPU supports it
- Graphics mode: High performance
- Rendering: DirectX 11
In-game graphics settings:
- Quality preset: Medium (most systems) or High (dedicated GPU, 8+ GB RAM)
- Frame rate cap: 60fps — unlock only if your system runs the game without thermal throttling
- Anti-aliasing: TAA at medium quality is a good balance between edge smoothness and performance cost
On integrated graphics (Intel UHD, Radeon Vega), set quality to Low and frame rate to 30fps. HI3 at Low is still visually coherent — the Valkyrie animations remain smooth even when environment detail drops.
Common issues and fixes
Game crashes at launch or logo screen: Switch rendering from DirectX 11 to OpenGL in GameLoop's engine settings. Some HI3 builds have a DirectX compatibility issue on certain driver versions.
Black screen on launch: Close GameLoop completely, restart as administrator, and relaunch. If the problem persists, switch Compatibility Mode on in GameLoop settings.
High ping / connection issues: HI3 connects to HoYoverse servers, not Tencent servers. If GameLoop's built-in network acceleration is set to Tencent games, turn it off — it does not help here and sometimes introduces latency on non-Tencent titles.
Keymapping breaks after update: Game updates sometimes reset the GameLoop keymapping profile. After a major HI3 update, open the keyboard editor (key icon, top right) and verify your bindings before entering combat.
Touch input showing instead of keyboard input: In the GameLoop toolbar, confirm the input mode is set to Keyboard, not Touch. Some installations default to Touch after an update.
Account safety
HoYoverse does not officially endorse emulator play, but they also do not actively ban accounts for it. HI3 has no competitive PvP mode where emulator input would constitute an unfair advantage, so enforcement has historically been minimal. As with any mobile game on an emulator, avoid using third-party tools, scripts, or speed hacks alongside GameLoop — those are what trigger HoYoverse's detection, not the emulator itself.
Your account data lives on HoYoverse's servers and is not affected by which client you use. You can log into the official PC client and GameLoop on the same account without conflict, though you cannot be logged in on both simultaneously.
