CODM Season 7 rank reset — what changes for GameLoop PC players
Your Season 6 rank does not carry over unchanged. Here is how the rank reset works at the start of Season 7 and what it means for PC players.
Call of Duty: Mobile resets ranked progress at the start of every season. Season 7 — Terminated — follows the same pattern. This guide explains what changes, what stays, and how the reset affects GameLoop PC players specifically.
What rank reset means in CODM
At the start of a new season, your Ranked SR (Season Rating) is not wiped entirely. CODM applies a partial decay — your season-start position is lower than your season-end position, but not at zero. Players who finished Season 6 at high ranks start Season 7 somewhere below that level and climb back up.
This is different from games that fully reset everyone to the same starting point. In CODM, your previous season performance is used to place you, and then you play placement matches to confirm your starting rank.
How much your rank drops
The exact decay amount is confirmed once the patch is live, but the pattern across recent CODM seasons has been consistent:

Placement matches
After the reset, you play a series of placement matches. Performance in placements determines where you land in the starting range above. A strong placement run can push you to the top of your estimated bracket; a poor run can place you at the bottom.
On GameLoop, placements are worth taking seriously. The aim consistency you get from a keyboard and mouse is a real advantage during placements — opponents at your estimated starting rank are mostly mobile players, and consistent aim wins a higher percentage of even exchanges. A focused placement session, maybe four to six matches in a row, gives you a cleaner read of where you are landing.
If you cannot play a focused block during the placement window, it is better to wait. Scattered single matches with interruptions tend to produce noisier placement results than a sustained session.
What carries over to Season 7
Rank SR and your placement in the ladder do not carry over. But several things do:
- Weapon unlock progress — all unlocked weapons, attachments, and operators remain available.
- Keybind configuration — your GameLoop keybindings usually survive a season update, but export them before patching anyway. The day-one checklist covers this step.
- Battle Pass progress — a new Season 7 Battle Pass begins. Season 6 progress is archived; any untouched tokens from Season 6 may carry over depending on your account status.
- Ranked rewards from Season 6 — cosmetics and rewards earned during Season 6 ranked are permanently on your account. They do not expire with the season.
Season 7 ranked changes specific to PC

New weapons will not be in placement meta. The JOKR, Hades LMG, and Striker 45 arrive in Season 7 but will not have optimised attachment sets during placements. Use your best-performing Season 6 weapon for placement matches rather than experimenting with new additions.
Graphics settings may reset. The Season 7 patch may reset your graphics configuration in GameLoop. Before your first placement match, check that your renderer and performance settings are correct. When to start your Season 7 placements
The first day of a new season brings the highest server load and the most unstable matchmaking pools. Players who queue at the exact moment Season 7 goes live encounter slower connections and less predictable lobby composition.
A practical approach:
- Let the update download and complete before queuing.
- Play one or two casual matches to confirm your settings are correct and the game is stable.
- Wait until the initial surge settles — usually two to four hours after the launch window — before starting placements.
This is not a disadvantage. Placement matches are available for the first several weeks of the season, not just the first day. Starting clean when servers are stable produces better results than rushing in during the launch-day rush.
