Brawl Stars on GameLoop PC: Controls, Settings, and Keymapping Guide
Brawl Stars controls translated to a keyboard and mouse better than most mobile shooters — the directional attack and the top-down view map cleanly to WASD and the mouse. Here is how to get the setup right from the start.
Brawl Stars is a real-time PvP brawler from Supercell. Unlike Clash of Clans, it is a reflex game — movement, aiming, and ability timing all happen under pressure. That makes the controls worth setting up correctly before your first match.
Supercell does not publish a Windows client for Brawl Stars. On PC, GameLoop is the most stable path. The game is listed in GameLoop's Game Center catalog, installation is straightforward, and Supercell ID syncs your progress from mobile immediately.
Install
- Open GameLoop and search "Brawl Stars" in the Game Center.
- Click Install. GameLoop pulls the Play Store version directly.
- Sign in with your Supercell ID. Trophies, brawlers, and rank carry over from your mobile account.
- If you play on a guest account on mobile, convert it first: Settings → Supercell ID inside the mobile app. Guest accounts cannot be recovered on a new device without this step.
First launch downloads additional game data in the background. Let it complete before entering a match.
Keymapping
Brawl Stars is a top-down directional game. Movement is the left joystick; attacks and supers are directional swipes or button taps, depending on the control mode you use in-game. GameLoop's keymapping translates both well, but you need to set it up manually.
Open the GameLoop keyboard editor (the key icon at the top right of the window) and apply these bindings:
| Action | Suggested key |
|---|---|
| Move up | W |
| Move down | S |
| Move left | A |
| Move right | D |
| Basic attack (fire in direction) | Left mouse button |
| Super ability | Right mouse button |
| Gadget | Q |
| Hypercharge / Star Power | E |
| Aim assist toggle | Middle mouse button or F |
| Emote | T |
Aim mode matters. In the in-game settings, set the attack control to "Tap to attack" and "Manual aim" rather than autoaim. On PC, precise mouse cursor placement gives you far more control over attack direction than the auto-lock system built for phone thumbs.
In manual aim mode, you hold the attack button and move the mouse to direct the shot. Release to fire. This is the control model that translates best to mouse-and-keyboard, and most PC players find it significantly more precise than mobile autoaim once they adjust — especially with wide-spread brawlers like Shelly or sniper brawlers like Piper.
Brawler classes and which controls benefit most
Tanks and close-range brawlers (Rosa, El Primo, Buzz): WASD movement maps perfectly to their playstyle. On mobile, moving and attacking simultaneously is a two-thumb juggle. On PC, W/A/S/D + left click handles it cleanly.
Snipers and long-range brawlers (Piper, Belle, Bea): the biggest PC upgrade. Precise mouse aim eliminates the angular imprecision of dragging a thumb on a phone screen. Manual aim mode is essential for these brawlers.
Throwers (Barley, Dynamike, Sprout): requires predicting where opponents will be. Mouse cursor placement for lob targeting is more deliberate on PC, which suits the planning these brawlers demand.
Super-dependent brawlers (Mortis, Edgar, Frank): binding the super to right-click makes it fast and accessible without moving your left hand.
Performance settings
Brawl Stars is not a graphically demanding game. Any PC that can run CODM at 60fps will run Brawl Stars comfortably.
GameLoop settings:
- Memory allocation: 4096 MB
- Frame rate: 60fps
- Resolution: match your monitor resolution
In-game graphics: go to Settings → Graphics and set to High or Ultra. Brawl Stars was designed for mobile hardware, so even mid-range PC GPUs will run the highest setting without frame drops.
If you are on a laptop with integrated graphics, use Medium at 60fps rather than pushing to Ultra. The game will still run well, and medium graphics prevents the thermal throttling that causes laptops to drop frames mid-match.
Ranked and competitive play on PC
Brawl Stars does not publicly block emulator users from ranked modes. PC players and mobile players are pooled together in standard matchmaking.
That said, PC gives you a real mechanical advantage in manual aim modes. If you are climbing the trophy ladder or playing in Club League, the mouse precision and WASD control are genuine improvements over touchscreen play — not because the game favors PC, but because the controls are objectively more accurate.
Be aware that Supercell periodically updates their anti-cheat behavior, and any emulator may have compatibility changes over time. If you encounter a mode that does not allow emulator sessions, it will notify you at the lobby screen rather than silently matching you.
What improves most on PC
Trophy push brawlers: the mechanical ceiling for snipers and mid-range brawlers rises meaningfully with mouse aim. If you have a brawler stuck at a trophy plateau on mobile, PC controls often unlock the next tier.
Multitasking awareness: on mobile, watching the minimap while moving and shooting requires dividing attention across the screen. On a larger monitor at 1080p or higher, the full arena is visible in your peripheral vision without having to shift your focus.
Bounty and Heist modes: game modes where precise shot selection matters more than raw spam-clicking reward PC aim more than modes like Brawl Ball, where physical collisions and positioning matter equally.
Common setup questions
Can I use my mobile account on GameLoop? Yes. Supercell ID is cross-platform. Sign in with the same account and all your brawlers, trophies, and gadgets transfer immediately.
Do I need to reconfigure keymaps every session? No. GameLoop saves keymaps per game. Once configured, they persist.
The joystick in GameLoop feels sluggish — how do I fix it? Open the keymapping editor and check the joystick sensitivity radius. Reduce the radius on the movement joystick zone — a smaller zone means the game registers full-speed movement with a shorter WASD input.
Can I play co-op modes (Duo/Trio Showdown, etc.) on PC? Yes. All multiplayer modes are available on GameLoop. There are no PC-exclusive mode restrictions for standard playlist modes.
Keymap configs for Brawl Stars are available in the GameLoop keymap library — search by brawler type to find setups tuned for snipers, tanks, and throwers.
