How to use the JOKR launcher in CODM Season 7 on GameLoop PC
The JOKR is a fire-and-forget rocket launcher with a target-lock mechanic that most PC key mappings do not configure by default. Setting it up takes two minutes.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 is adding the JOKR launcher — a fire-and-forget rocket that requires a manual lock-on before firing. On mobile the lock-on is a hold-to-aim gesture, but on GameLoop PC the interaction maps to a key that frequently arrives unbound.
If you open your game on launch day, equip the JOKR, and find that nothing happens when you try to lock on, the binding gap is almost certainly why.
How the JOKR's lock-on works on PC
The JOKR uses a two-stage interaction: ADS first, then a separate lock-on command while aiming. On mobile these are the same hold gesture. On PC they are separate keys.
The ADS key is usually bound from the start — it carries over from your standard weapon layout. The lock-on command is a distinct action that the game may not pre-assign on PC, because the weapon class did not previously require it.
Before your first match with the JOKR, check that you have an active binding for:
ADS / Aim— standard, almost always presentLock-on / Target lock— the JOKR-specific action; verify this exists and points to a key you can reach while aiming
The location in settings: GameLoop key mapper → open the CODM control scheme → search for "lock" in the binding list. If no entry appears, you are looking in the right place, but using the wrong filter. Try "missile" or scroll the launcher section directly.
Where to place the lock-on key
There is no universally correct placement. The constraint is that the key must be reachable while your ADS hand (usually right mouse button) is held. Common placements:
- Middle mouse button — if you have a scroll wheel click, this keeps your aim hand free
- A key near the movement cluster — works if you are comfortable briefly releasing a movement key while stationary, which is realistic for a slow-fire rocket
- Thumb button on a gaming mouse — the cleanest option if available, zero hand position change
Do not place it on a key you use for another launcher action (like firing or switching ammo type) — the sequencing will produce accidental inputs.
The ADS lag issue on emulators
Rocket launchers in CODM have a brief animation before ADS completes. This is not an emulator bug — the same delay exists on mobile. On PC it can feel more pronounced because mouse ADS on other weapons usually completes near-instantly.
If your aim feels laggy specifically with the JOKR: confirm your renderer is set to DX11 (not DX9) for this interaction, because DX9 adds input processing overhead that compounds animation delays on weapons with pre-fire windows.
Performance note for Season 7
The JOKR's guidance overlay adds a render pass that does not exist for standard weapons. On machines already running near their GPU limit, equipping it can dip frame rate slightly. The effect is small and transient. If you notice it, the mitigation is dropping shadow quality one step, not switching weapons.
The Terminator and Girls' Frontline events expected in Season 7 also bring new particle effects that tax low-to-mid GPU tiers more than typical CODM content. These are unrelated to the JOKR but worth knowing if your frame rate dips unpredictably on launch week.
Before Season 7 ships
Check your key mappings before the patch, not after. A major season update resets graphics settings, and on some machines it clears custom key mappings as well. The day-one checklist on this site covers the full pre-patch step list. The JOKR lock-on binding in particular is worth noting down now so you can restore it immediately rather than diagnosing a control problem under fire.
