Free Fire on PC with GameLoop — Setup Guide, Controls & Best Settings (2026)
Garena Free Fire runs on GameLoop as a standard Android app. Here is how to install it, map your controls, and tune settings so you are not at a disadvantage against phone players.
Free Fire is a 10-minute battle royale built for speed. Fifty players drop into a shrinking map, the match is over fast, and the skill ceiling on PC — where you get a mouse and full keyboard — is meaningfully higher than on touch. This guide covers everything from first install to competitive settings.
Installing Free Fire on GameLoop
GameLoop is primarily built around Tencent titles, but it runs any Android APK. Free Fire installs through the Google Play Store that GameLoop includes, or via a direct APK download from the official Garena site.
Option A — Game Center search (simplest): Open GameLoop, click Game Center, search "Free Fire." If it appears, install directly. Some regions show it; others do not, depending on GameLoop's catalogue for your area.
Option B — Play Store inside GameLoop:
- Open GameLoop and launch the built-in Android system
- Open the Play Store app, sign in with a Google account
- Search "Garena Free Fire" and install as you would on a phone
- The game appears in My Games after installation
Option C — Direct APK (if Play Store is unavailable): Download the APK from Garena's official site, drag it onto the GameLoop window, and it installs automatically. Your Garena account carries all progress.
After installation, launch once and let the in-game download complete before adjusting settings.
Graphics settings
Free Fire's graphics options are inside the game itself, not in GameLoop's emulator settings. Open the game, go to Settings → Graphics.
For performance (stable 60 fps on mid-range hardware):
- Graphics quality: Low or Medium
- Frame rate: 60 fps
- Anti-aliasing: Off
- Shadows: Off
For visual quality (if your GPU handles it):
- Graphics quality: High
- Frame rate: 60 fps
- Anti-aliasing: On
- Shadows: On
Free Fire runs well on integrated graphics at Low settings. If you are on a dedicated GPU with at least 4 GB VRAM, High at 60 fps is stable.
GameLoop settings to match:
- Open GameLoop Settings (the gear icon at the top-right)
- Set Resolution to 1280×720 or 1920×1080
- Set frame rate cap to 60 fps
- Rendering: DirectX (recommended); switch to OpenGL if you see a black screen on first launch
- Allocate at least 4 cores and 4096 MB RAM
Keymapping guide
Free Fire on GameLoop requires manual keymapping — the game does not natively expose keyboard bindings for emulators the way CODM does. Use GameLoop's Keyboard Control Editor (the keyboard icon in the toolbar).
Recommended layout:
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Move forward | W |
| Move backward | S |
| Move left | A |
| Move right | D |
| Jump | Space |
| Crouch / slide | C |
| Prone | Z |
| Sprint | Shift |
| Fire (tap) | Left click |
| Aim down sight | Right click |
| Reload | R |
| Interact / pick up | F |
| Throw grenade | G |
| Switch weapon | Q or scroll wheel |
| Open inventory | I or Tab |
| Map | M |
| Voice chat | T |
| Parachute deploy | Space (during drop) |
| Gloo Wall | E (set this before your first match) |
| Character Skill | V or any reachable key |
For the joystick movement to work accurately, set the movement area in GameLoop to Joystick (free look) rather than Fixed Buttons. This gives you smooth analogue movement that responds to WASD held keys.
Sensitivity settings
Free Fire sensitivity is separate from your Windows mouse sensitivity. Set it inside the game:
Free Fire has six sensitivity sliders, all on a 1–100 scale:
| Slider | What it controls |
|---|---|
| General | Hip-fire and all turning when not scoped |
| Red Dot | ADS through red dot optic |
| 2× Scope | ADS through 2× optic |
| 4× Scope | ADS through 4× optic |
| Sniper Scope | ADS through the AWM's integrated scope |
| Free Look | Looking around without changing your facing direction |
Starting values for 800 DPI mouse (ranked all-round):
- General: 88
- Red Dot: 85
- 2× Scope: 78
- 4× Scope: 68
- Sniper Scope: 55
- Free Look: 65
If your crosshair overshoots targets, reduce General by 5–8 until it feels controllable. If you play primarily with the AWM, drop Sniper Scope toward 40–50 and reduce your DPI to 400–600 for more precision. See the Free Fire configs in the gameloop.blog keymap library for alternative starting points sorted by playstyle (rush, sniper, Clash Squad).
Free Look is worth setting deliberately. On mobile, players swipe with a thumb to check flanks while running. On PC, Free Look lets you move your mouse to look around without rotating your character — hold the Free Look key and look behind you while still sprinting in a straight line. Most PC players ignore it and pay for it in zone rotations.
Free Fire has no gyroscope. Unlike PUBG Mobile (which added gyroscope for phone players), Free Fire has never had a gyroscope setting on any platform. If you see a guide telling you to disable gyroscope in Free Fire, it is either describing a different game or has outdated information.
Performance tips for low-end PCs
Free Fire is lighter than PUBG Mobile and CODM. These changes help on older hardware:
- Lower the in-game frame rate target to 30 fps if your CPU cannot sustain 60. Consistent 30 is smoother than unstable 60 with drops.
- Close Discord, Chrome, and other background apps before launching GameLoop.
- Set GameLoop and Free Fire to High priority in Windows Task Manager (right-click the process → Set priority → High).
- Allocate exactly the RAM your PC can spare — do not over-allocate. If your PC has 8 GB total, give GameLoop 4 GB, not 6 GB.
- Use SSD storage if possible. Free Fire's asset streaming stutters noticeably on slow HDDs.
Troubleshooting common issues
Black screen on launch: Switch the rendering engine in GameLoop Settings from DirectX to OpenGL (or vice versa). This resolves the majority of black screen cases on first launch.
Game crashes immediately: Free Fire requires VT-x or AMD-V virtualisation enabled in BIOS. Check GameLoop's System Check tool (Settings → About) for a virtualisation status readout.
Stuck on loading screen: Clear the app cache: in GameLoop's built-in Android Settings, find Free Fire under Apps, tap Storage, and clear cache. The game reloads assets fresh on next launch.
No sound: Go to GameLoop Settings → Sound and make sure the audio device is set to your actual output (speakers or headset). If still silent, switch between Software and Hardware audio modes.
Login fails: Free Fire uses a Garena account. Make sure the Google account linked in GameLoop matches the account you registered Free Fire with. Log out of the Play Store and back in if you see persistent authentication errors.
High ping: Free Fire has regional servers. Inside the game, change your server region in Settings → Others → Server. Connecting to a nearer server cuts 30–80 ms in most cases. If ping stays high despite correct region, consider a gaming VPN such as ExitLag that has Free Fire routing support.
Advantages of playing Free Fire on PC
The core advantage is precision. Free Fire's end-game circle fights are close-range, where cursor accuracy separates eliminations. On a mouse you do not accumulate thumb fatigue over a session, your aim is consistent from match one to match fifty, and you can move and aim independently without the touch input tradeoff.
The keyboard also gives you fast access to all actions simultaneously — you can crouch while shooting while moving without needing to stretch a thumb across a small screen. Grenade throws, inventory switches, and weapon swaps are all single key presses.
Free Fire's 50-player format means less time in the early drop phase and more time in mid-circle fights. On PC, those fights are where your input advantage is largest.
