Lockdown mode in CODM Season 7 Terminated — GameLoop PC guide
Season 7 introduces Lockdown, a new Battle Royale variant on Rebirth Island. Here is what changes for PC players and how to set up for it.
Season 7 Terminated introduces Lockdown, a new Battle Royale mode played on Rebirth Island. It is an objective-based variant of the standard BR loop — the core mechanics of parachuting, looting, and the shrinking zone remain, but Lockdown adds a layer of map control that standard BR does not have.
This guide covers what changes for GameLoop PC players and how to configure your setup before your first Lockdown match.
What Lockdown changes
Standard Battle Royale has one objective: be the last player or squad alive. Lockdown adds a second layer alongside survival: High Value Zones — designated map areas that award additional rewards to the players or squad holding them.
This changes how you think about positioning. In standard BR, the optimal position is wherever keeps you alive longest. In Lockdown, there is a pull toward specific map locations that may or may not align with the safest circle position. The result is more contact earlier, more deliberate positioning decisions, and more rewarding rotations.
Respawns are available in Lockdown. A downed teammate is not necessarily out of the match — unlike standard BR where a death is final. This changes risk tolerance: pushing an exposed position that would be a mistake in standard BR may be acceptable in Lockdown if the zone reward justifies it.
Rebirth Island is a smaller map than standard BR maps. Smaller area means shorter travel distances, faster rotations, and significantly more player contact in the early and mid-game. The pace of Lockdown matches runs faster than standard BR from the first minutes of the match.
Controls — what transfers over
Your existing BR keybindings carry over to Lockdown without changes required. GameLoop's Smart Tool preset for standard BR works in Lockdown. The mode uses the same parachute, crouch, prone, jump, fire, and ADS bindings as every other BR mode.
One binding to check before your first Lockdown match: interact. High Value Zones require your squad to be present in the zone area — the interaction is positional, not a keypress. But if any new Lockdown-specific objective mechanics are added in updates, the interact/use binding (typically F in GameLoop default layouts) is the key to check first.
Sensitivity and pace
The smaller Rebirth Island map and respawn mechanic mean Lockdown matches have more close-to-medium range engagements than standard BR. Two adjustments help:
Hip-fire sensitivity: if you have been running a BR-optimised sensitivity tuned for long-range sniper engagements, it may feel slightly slow for the faster, closer fights in Lockdown. Test your current sensitivity in the first match and consider a slight upward adjustment to your base look sensitivity if close-range tracking feels sluggish.
ADS sensitivity for scope multipliers: your 6x and 8x multipliers matter less in Lockdown than in open-map BR. The 1x–3x range is where most Lockdown fights resolve. If you have a setup with sniper-ADS multipliers tuned down significantly, you may be under-rotated for the range bracket Lockdown actually produces.
You do not need separate Smart Tool presets for Lockdown and standard BR — one adjustment session to your existing BR preset is enough if the base sensitivity is close.
Rebirth Island — map considerations for PC players
Rebirth Island is a compact multi-level map with rooftops, interior corridors, and open courtyards. On GameLoop, a few things help:
Roof navigation: GameLoop's jump and crouch bindings work correctly for climbing to elevated positions on Rebirth Island. If you have your crouch and jump on different keys for easier hold-use (for instance, crouch toggle vs. crouch hold), check which mode your binding uses — toggled crouch that stays down accidentally causes issues when mantling ledges.
Interior fights: Rebirth Island has more interior corridor fights than open-ground BR. Shotgun or SMG in your secondary slot is more useful here than a sniper. The Cronen Squall (Season 7's new AR) works at the mid-range bracket that Rebirth Island favours — closer range than open-field BR, farther than typical multiplayer.
Zone rotations: because the map is compact, zone damage is less forgiving. A zone that is half a kilometre away in standard BR is a 30-second sprint; the same relative zone on Rebirth Island may be 10 seconds of running. Do not wait as long before rotating — the zone speed relative to map size leaves less buffer time than players used to large-map BR expect.
High Value Zones — what to do on GameLoop
High Value Zones reward the squad holding them with additional season rewards. On GameLoop, there is nothing to configure for this — presence in the zone is automatic. Your job is squad coordination and positioning, not a specific keybinding setup.
The practical implication for PC players: Lockdown will always have at least one area of the map where contact is reliably concentrated. If you want fights, that is where you go. If you want to avoid early contact and play circle-safe, treat HVZ-adjacent areas like you treat marked hot drops in standard BR — approach with a plan or avoid until mid-game when the squad density thins out.
Common issues at mode launch
New modes occasionally have technical issues on the first day or two after season launch. The most common on GameLoop:
Lobby matchmaking taking longer than standard BR — new modes fill lobbies more slowly until the player population spreads out. This is normal at launch and resolves as more players discover the mode over the first week.
Respawn timer not triggering — if a downed teammate is not showing a respawn prompt, this is typically a server-side issue on launch day. It resolves with the first maintenance patch.
Performance dip at Rebirth Island zones — Rebirth Island has dense geometry in some sections. On machines near their GPU limit, the initial parachute approach and early-match drop zone areas may show lower frame rates than your standard BR experience. Lowering shadow quality by one step before entering Lockdown lobbies is the fastest fix.
If you experience issues that are not addressed here, the common S7 problems guide covers launch-day bugs and fixes.
Summary for PC players
Lockdown is a faster, higher-contact BR mode. Your standard Smart Tool BR preset works without changes. The adjustments that help most are: a slight sensitivity increase if close-range tracking feels slow, a secondary weapon tuned for close-to-mid range, and faster zone rotations than you are used to from large-map BR.
The mode rewards map control, not just survival — if your squad is comfortable with coordinated positioning, Lockdown's High Value Zones give a structured objective to build rotations around.
