Rytec AMR in CODM Season 8 — S8 Buffs, Loadout, and BR Guide for GameLoop PC

Season 8 gave the Rytec AMR its biggest buff cycle yet — headshot multiplier nearly doubled, magazine expanded to 25 rounds. Here is what changed, how to build it for Battle Royale, and why PC players benefit the most.

The Rytec AMR has always been one of COD Mobile's most distinctive snipers: a semi-auto anti-materiel rifle that trades mobility for raw damage and exceptional magazine size. Season 8 Against All Fate landed a significant buff package that addresses the weapon's biggest weakness in Battle Royale — headshot lethality — and quietly turns it into one of the most forgiving one-shot rifles in the current pool.

This guide covers what changed in S8, how to build the Rytec for Battle Royale, and how to use it effectively on GameLoop PC where the weapon's semi-auto pattern plays very differently than it does on touchscreen.

What changed in Season 8

Activision published the S8 balance notes through the official patch page. The Rytec AMR's changes are among the largest buff packages in this update:

StatBefore S8After S8
Headshot multiplier2.003.75
Headshot multiplier (25x59mm thermite mag)5.256.20
Base magazine capacity15 rounds25 rounds
Explosive / Thermite mag capacity10 rounds20 rounds
ADS speed—Improved

The headshot multiplier change is the headline. A multiplier of 3.75 means a headshot hit registers at 3.75× the base headshot damage — pushing the Rytec solidly into guaranteed one-hit-kill territory on unarmored or lightly armored targets at practical engagement ranges. Before S8, a multiplier of 2.00 left the weapon reliant on stopping-power-style headshots to confirm kills; after S8, the math is more forgiving.

The magazine expansion from 15 to 25 rounds is equally significant for Battle Royale. In late-zone situations where sustained fire is necessary and resupply is not guaranteed, 10 additional rounds is the difference between staying in the fight and dry-firing into a rotation.

Damage breakdown

Community testing in the first days of S8 confirms the following base damage values for the Rytec AMR:

Hit locationDamage
Headshot160
Chest / upper body120
Waist / mid body104

These numbers apply at ranges up to approximately 40 meters. At that distance, a chest hit already delivers 120 damage — a one-shot kill on any opponent without a level-3 vest. This is notably more forgiving than most snipers in the pool, where a chest hit requires stopping power rounds to confirm a kill.

Practical read: the Rytec AMR in S8 does not require a perfect headshot to one-tap an unarmored target at close-to-mid sniper range. A chest hit kills. This changes how you play the weapon in final-ring situations.

Why this matters on GameLoop PC

Semi-auto snipers have an asymmetric relationship with mouse versus touchscreen input.

On touchscreen, semi-auto fire rate is capped by thumb-tap speed. Players who want a higher fire rate must use attachments and macros to compensate, and even then the speed ceiling is relatively low. In practice, most touchscreen players treat the Rytec as a bolt-action equivalent — one shot per engagement, then repositioning.

On GameLoop PC with a mouse:

  • Semi-auto click speed is mouse-speed limited, not thumb-speed limited. A mouse click at full rate can significantly exceed the typical touchscreen tap speed. The Rytec's semi-auto action means each deliberate click fires one round — and at mouse precision, you can land follow-up shots before a target has broken line of sight or reached cover.
  • ADS stability on mouse is inherently higher. The moment your crosshair settles in ADS, a mouse click fires with the precision of where you aimed. There is no fingertip wobble or accidental swipe. The Rytec's semi-auto mechanic rewards this.
  • The expanded 25-round magazine rewards aggressive BR play. PC players tend to engage more frequently and from more confident positions than touchscreen players. Having 25 rounds instead of 15 means you can stay in ADS during an exchange without dread-watching the ammo counter.

The net result: the S8 Rytec AMR is a stronger weapon in PC players' hands than in touchscreen players' hands, and the S8 buff package widens that gap by making each shot more likely to confirm a kill.

Loadout philosophy

The Rytec AMR has two viable build directions in S8. Which one fits you depends on how aggressively you play BR.

Mobility-first (recommended for most players)

The goal is to reduce ADS time as much as possible so the weapon feels closer to a bolt-action in snap engagement speed. The trade-off is slightly reduced range effectiveness at extreme distances.

Focus attachments on: stock, laser, and rear grip — all of which reduce ADS time without compromising base damage or accuracy at practical ranges. A lighter barrel choice helps with overall mobility penalty, which the Rytec carries as a base stat.

This build rewards players who push final circles aggressively, close gaps on downed-zone rotators, and engage at 30–70m rather than 100m+.

Range-focused (for patient, high-ground play)

The goal is to maximize bullet velocity, range, and ADS stability for engagements at 80–150m. The trade-off is slower repositioning, making this less viable in fast-moving late circles.

Focus attachments on: barrel (velocity) and scope magnification. The base 25-round magazine already gives you the comfort you need in sustained exchanges; spend your remaining slots on range-extending stats.

This build suits players who lock down high ground early, hold an angle, and do not plan to push.

BR positioning guide

The Rytec AMR's damage profile makes it most effective in two specific BR scenarios:

Open-field rotators. Players crossing open terrain during early-to-mid circle movements are the Rytec's primary target. At 40–80m, a chest hit kills. At 80–120m, the weapon is still consistent with near-miss headshots. Semi-auto means you can fire follow-up shots if the first round connects but does not confirm.

Final-ring chokepoints. Late circles force opponents through predictable paths. The Rytec's 25-round magazine means you can cover a chokepoint and fire on multiple opponents without reloading mid-engagement. This is the scenario where the expanded magazine matters most — you are not expecting to need 25 shots on one target; you need 25 shots across a compressed final-ring window with multiple threats.

Avoid: indoor building fights. The Rytec's mobility penalty and semi-auto delay make it poorly suited to CQB. Always pair it with an SMG secondary. On GameLoop PC, a LAPA or PDW-57 on a second keybind lets you swap instantly when an opponent pushes into a building you are holding.

GameLoop PC — sensitivity and keybind notes

Sensitivity: The Rytec's ADS scope magnification is higher than most weapons. If your current sniper sensitivity feels twitchy or undershoots at range, reduce scope sensitivity in the CODM settings menu. A general starting point for 4x+ scopes on GameLoop PC: 60–70% of your default ADS sensitivity, then tune up or down over a few matches.

Quick-swap keybind: Set a fast weapon-switch key (default Q in GameLoop) and get comfortable with it. After a Rytec shot, a deliberate quick-swap to your SMG secondary takes less than 0.5 seconds with keyboard versus the swipe gesture on touchscreen. Do not stay on the Rytec if an opponent breaks into close range — swap and push back.

Zoom-in binding: If you use the Rytec with a high-magnification scope, consider binding zoom-in/zoom-out to mouse wheel scroll. This lets you adjust magnification without taking your fingers off movement keys.

Rytec AMR versus DL Q33 in S8

The DL Q33 remains the most-used sniper in CODM BR and is still viable in S8. The comparison is worth understanding:

FactorRytec AMR (S8)DL Q33
Chest-hit one-shot✓ at up to 40m (unarmored)✓ with stopping power
Headshot one-shot✓ at all ranges (new multiplier)✓ at most ranges
Magazine25 rounds5–8 rounds
Fire actionSemi-auto (follow-up possible)Bolt-action (delay after each shot)
MobilityLowerHigher

The DL Q33 wins on mobility and bolt-action simplicity. The Rytec wins on magazine and follow-up potential. In S8, the Rytec's one-shot capability is no longer conditional on perfect headshots at practical ranges — which closes the kill-confirmation gap that previously made the DL Q33 the safer choice.

If you are comfortable with semi-auto sniping and play an active, engagement-heavy BR style, the S8 Rytec AMR is the stronger weapon. If you prefer high-ground passive play and value mobility between positions, the DL Q33 still fits that role better.

Verdict

The Season 8 Rytec AMR buff package is one of the more consequential weapon changes in this update. A headshot multiplier increase from 2.00 to 3.75 alongside a magazine expansion from 15 to 25 rounds removes the weapon's two main weaknesses: inconsistent kill confirmation and limited sustained fire.

On GameLoop PC, the semi-auto mechanism plays to mouse precision in a way that is difficult to replicate on touchscreen. The follow-up shot window, the click-speed advantage, and the 25-round magazine combine to make the S8 Rytec AMR a genuinely competitive BR option rather than a niche pick.

If you have been sleeping on this weapon, Season 8 is the right time to revisit it.
