CODM Season 8 Gunsmith Guide for GameLoop PC — How to Build and Save Loadouts with Mouse

The Gunsmith interface in CODM is built around tap-and-swipe on mobile. On GameLoop PC you get mouse precision, scroll to compare stats, and keyboard shortcuts. Here is how to use it properly.

Every loadout guide assumes you already know how to use the Gunsmith. Most players on mobile do — they learned it by touch. If you moved to GameLoop PC, the interface behaves differently, and the differences matter more than they look.

This guide is about the Gunsmith interface on PC specifically: how to navigate it, how to use the mouse to build faster, how to save and switch loadouts mid-session, and what the PC workflow changes about the decisions you make.

The Gunsmith Layout on GameLoop PC

Open the Gunsmith from the loadout screen. The weapon appears in the centre. The attachment slots are listed on the left side of the screen.

On mobile, players navigate this by tapping directly on the attachment slot they want, then swiping through options. On PC:

Select a slot with a left click. The attachment list opens on the right panel. Scroll the mouse wheel to move through options. Each option updates the stat bars at the bottom of the screen in real time. You do not need to tap-confirm to see the stat preview — it updates as you hover.

This is the first major PC advantage in the Gunsmith. Mobile players see one attachment at a time and have to remember how the previous option compared. With a mouse, you can scroll back and forth between two options while watching the stat bars change. Comparing a muzzle with +2 bullet velocity and –5 ADS against one with +3 range and –3 mobility is something you can see in real time on PC, not something you have to hold in memory.

Right-click to deselect or back out of a slot without confirming. This returns you to the weapon overview without losing the rest of your build.

Navigating Attachment Stats

The stat bars at the bottom of the Gunsmith show eight attributes: Damage, Range, Bullet Velocity, Accuracy, Aim Down Sight Speed, Mobility, Stability, and Control.

On PC, you can hover over each bar label to see the numeric value. This is something mobile players cannot easily do — the tap interface does not support hover states. Knowing that an attachment changes ADS Speed from 67 to 72 is more useful than knowing the bar moved slightly to the right.

When comparing two attachments that affect the same stat, write the numbers down or open a second window. The Gunsmith does not let you compare two options side by side, even on PC. The scroll-while-hovering workflow is a workaround, not a solution.

Building a Loadout: PC Workflow

Step 1 — Start with the barrel. Barrel attachments affect range, damage, and bullet velocity most significantly. On PC, scroll through the barrel options and note which direction each moves your priority stats. If you are building for ranked MP, range and stability matter more than mobility. If you are building for BR, bullet velocity and ADS speed are usually the priority.

Step 2 — Muzzle second. Muzzles often add accuracy and stability with a cost to ADS speed. Compare each against your barrel choice. The stat bar movement is small — on PC, read the numbers by hovering rather than estimating from the bar height.

Step 3 — Grip, stock, ammunition in that order. Grip tape and underbarrel attachments affect stability and control. Stock affects ADS and mobility. Ammunition adds capacity or changes damage type (hollow point, FAST, Full Metal Jacket). Each category has fewer options than barrel or muzzle, making them faster to decide.

Step 4 — Perk attachment last. The perk slot (available on some weapons) applies an effect like Sleight of Hand for faster reloads or FMJ for penetration. These are binary decisions — you either need the perk or you do not — so they take less comparison time.

Saving Multiple Loadouts

CODM on GameLoop PC lets you save multiple loadout presets per weapon. In the Gunsmith, look for the save preset button (usually in the top-right of the build). You can name each preset.

Why this matters on PC: GameLoop sessions are often longer than mobile sessions because you are sitting at a desk. You can afford to have a ranked preset, a casual preset, and a BR preset for the same weapon, and switch between them in the lobby without rebuilding from scratch each time.

For Season 8 weapons specifically:

  • The Static-HV SMG benefits from a Challenge Pass unlock preset (for players still grinding the unlock) and a complete-build preset (for players who have unlocked attachments).
  • The ISO Hemlock AR has two viable build directions — aggressive mid-range and passive long-range — that play differently enough to warrant separate presets.
  • The Cronen Squall has a semi-auto and full-auto firing mode that changes which attachments to prioritise. Save one preset optimised for semi-auto range work and one for full-auto close play.

The Compare Feature

In the weapon selection screen (before opening Gunsmith), you can compare two weapons side by side. Left-click the weapon in your inventory, then look for the compare option. This shows the stat bars for both weapons simultaneously.

This is the correct place to decide between two weapons for a loadout slot. Use the Gunsmith itself for attachment decisions within a weapon, and the compare screen for the between-weapon decision.

Keymapping the Gunsmith

GameLoop's default keybinding does not assign shortcuts to the Gunsmith navigation. You can open the Keyboard Controls settings in GameLoop and assign:

  • A key to cycle forward through attachment options (replaces mouse scroll when one hand is on keyboard)
  • A key to toggle between build and stat view

Most PC players do not bother — mouse scroll is fast enough. The one shortcut worth mapping is the "confirm attachment" action if you find yourself clicking the confirm button repeatedly. Binding this to Enter or Space saves small amounts of time that add up across a full loadout build.

Common PC Gunsmith Mistakes

Comparing on paper instead of in the interface. The real-time stat preview is the most useful part of the PC Gunsmith. Use it instead of reading attachment names and trying to remember their effects from community posts.

Building the same loadout you saw on YouTube. YouTube CODM loadout videos show attachment names, not PC-specific considerations. A high-mobility barrel that works for a tap-firing mobile player may be wrong for a PC player who can sustain accurate full-auto fire. Build for what you actually do on PC, not for what mobile players optimised.

Ignoring the perk slot. The perk attachment is easy to miss because it is at the end of the list and players run out of attention by the time they get there. Sleight of Hand on a magazine-heavy weapon like the Static-HV cuts reload time meaningfully. Check the perk slot on every build.

Treating every stat as equally important. The stat bars are the same size for all attributes, which makes Damage look as important as Stability. For most PC players in ranked, stability and ADS speed matter more than raw damage — you are landing more shots already, so managing recoil is the limiting factor, not peak damage numbers.

When to Rebuild a Loadout Mid-Season

Season 8 changed weapon balance significantly in the initial patch. If a mid-season update adjusts a weapon you are using, check the patch notes in-game and rebuild the loadout. The mid-season update typically drops in the last third of the season — estimated late September 2026 based on the season timeline, though no official date has been confirmed.

The Gunsmith remembers your previous build, so you are always adjusting from a working baseline rather than starting from scratch.
