CODM Season 8 End-of-Season Checklist — What to Finish Before S9
Season 8 "Against All Fate" ends when Season 9 launches. Several rewards and events expire at the season transition. This checklist covers everything worth finishing before the cutoff, in priority order.
When CODM Season 9 launches, Season 8 ends — and anything tied to Season 8 events, tokens, or progress locks. Some rewards convert to a universal currency; most just disappear. This checklist covers what's worth your time in the final days of Season 8.
Priority 1: Free Mythic weapon event
The Season 8 Free Mythic Pick event lets every player earn a mythic-tier weapon blueprint by completing weekly missions. This is the highest-value permanent reward in Season 8 and it ends when the season does.
What to do:
- Open Events → check your progress on the Free Mythic milestone tracker
- Complete the remaining weekly mission tasks before the season end timer hits zero
- If you haven't selected a weapon yet, choose your preference — you can change your selection until the final milestone is completed
If you're close to the final milestone, prioritize these missions above everything else. A mythic blueprint is the most expensive item tier in CODM; getting it free requires only completing time-limited missions, not spending CP.
Note: The Holiday Login Rewards starting October 1 accelerated milestone progress. If you've been logging in daily since then, you're likely ahead of the standard mission pace.
Priority 2: Battle Pass — reach Tier 50 if you haven't
If you purchased the Season 8 Battle Pass (standard or premium), your progress and unlocks are permanent — but you must claim them before the season ends. Unclaimed BP rewards from the final tiers may not carry over automatically.
What to do:
- Open Battle Pass → scroll through all tiers → tap "Claim" on any unclaimed rewards up to your highest reached tier
- If you're within reach of Tier 50 (the final tier) and have a few days left, grind missions and matches — the XP gap between Tier 45 and 50 is completable in a focused weekend session
- Free tiers are available to everyone — claim those too if you skipped them
After Season 9 launches, the Season 8 Battle Pass is removed from the store and BP tiers are locked.
Priority 3: Seasonal event tokens and currencies
Season 8 events use temporary currencies — tokens earned from event missions, limited-time challenges, or login bonuses. These tokens expire at the season transition.
What to do:
- Open Events → check any event stores or exchange tabs for seasonal tokens
- Spend tokens on permanent items first: weapon blueprints, camos, charms, calling cards
- Skip consumables (EXP cards, credit boosts) if token supply is limited — permanent cosmetics are always better value
The Honkai Impact 3rd collaboration items sold through the event store (including collaboration-themed cosmetics) become unavailable after Season 8 ends. If you've been accumulating event tokens, this is the window to convert them.
Priority 4: Ranked season rewards
Season 8 ranked play ends at the season transition. Your highest rank achieved during the season determines what rewards you receive.
Rewards by rank tier:
- Legendary: exclusive Legendary frame, calling card, and avatar border — the most visually distinct rewards
- Masters: Masters frame and calling card
- Pro and below: rank-appropriate calling cards and in-game decorations
What to do:
- Check your current rank in the Ranked screen
- If you're close to the next reward tier, you have until the season end to push up — each ranked tier within a division takes a set number of points, which you can check in the ranked progress screen
- You don't need to finish anything after reaching the tier — ranked rewards are distributed automatically at season end based on your highest achieved rank
On GameLoop PC: ranked in the final days of the season is competitive because many players are actively pushing rank. Expect sweaty lobbies and opponents using the current season meta.
Priority 5: Honkai Impact 3rd collaboration missions
The Honkai Impact 3rd crossover introduced limited-time collaboration missions in Season 8. These missions expire when Season 8 ends.
What to do:
- Open Events → find the Honkai Impact 3rd collaboration event panel
- Complete any unfinished missions to claim the remaining collaboration cosmetics: frames, stickers, calling cards, and charms specific to the collab
- The Quantum Platform POI (Battle Royale mode) is part of this collaboration — if you haven't played it, it's worth doing for the experience and the associated rewards
Collaboration cosmetics obtained before the season ends are permanent. The collaboration event itself ends — you won't be able to earn the unique cosmetics after Season 8 closes.
Priority 6: Roguelike Mode event rewards
Season 8 introduced Roguelike Multiplayer Mode (top-down co-op wave shooter). This mode likely runs through the end of Season 8 and may or may not continue in Season 9.
What to do:
- Open Roguelike Mode → check for any active reward tracks or event missions tied to it
- Complete any milestone rewards (these are typically tied to number of runs completed or levels cleared)
- If you haven't tried it yet: it's a different experience from standard CODM modes, and the event window is ending
What doesn't expire at season end
To save you unnecessary stress:
- COD Points (CP): permanent, carry over indefinitely
- Credits: permanent
- Previously owned weapon blueprints, skins, and cosmetics: all permanent
- Operator skins: permanent
- Ranked progress (your account rank history): records remain, rank resets at the start of each season to a calibrated placement
- Weapon levels and attachments: fully permanent
Season 9 launches without warning on the same day Season 8 ends
The transition happens at a specific time — Season 8's countdown in the main menu is the authoritative clock. When it hits zero, servers cycle, ranked resets, and Season 9 content becomes available. This usually happens with a brief maintenance window (15–30 minutes).
Do your checklist before the timer hits zero, not after.
Season 8's best free reward is the mythic weapon blueprint event — if you're close to the final milestone, that's the one thing worth pushing hard for before the season closes.
