For tanks and supports whose job is to disrupt the enemy rather than damage them. Keep Smart Cast OFF for abilities that must land in a precise spot (Blitzcrank hook, Thresh lantern): Normal Cast shows the range indicator, so you see exactly where the ability lands before committing. Smart Cast stays on for self-targeted shields and heals. Ping on G is more valuable for this role than for carries — one misread ping call wastes four players' effort.
